The material is thinner than in oilcloth covers, but acts sufficiently stable. Hot coffee cup behind but ever clearly visible traces (corrugated ring), whether the place again smooth or whether one gets with a hair dryer out I do not know. I would therefore not be described as heat stable as Oil cloths with textile back are probably more appropriate. A hot pot, they should be taken very ill, so be sure to use coasters.
The smell is actually clearly perceptible, this I also expected from such a product. Really annoying I do not find him and he is given not strong in the ambient air. However, the ceilings are in a business dining room, which is used only at mealtimes.
For the kids, this product is definitely not suitable. Unfortunately, the provider does not specify from which the ceiling is, but I'd bet very heavily on soft PVC (the French instructions on the back of paper called the product vinyl). The plasticizer contained therein are not recommended for children and some banned for eg toys.

I have no idea whether the odor is an indication of an increased use of plasticizers, but it seems likely. Here I would like to see better labeling of the dealer or manufacturer. Since the material is to be permanently used in enclosed spaces, would be a Unbedenklichkeits certificate as "Confidence in Textiles" desirable.
Despite the far better mechanical quality I give only 3 stars, as long as the manufacturer / distributor does not have material and health safety.
Outdoor use, ie on balcony or in the garden plot, but I can wholeheartedly recommend. Only the UV-stability, they must then prove there.
PS: It gets as a negative item stating: product description of the provider is not true. An oilcloth with textile back is definitely not, and whether therefore agree the recommendations mentioned there I do not know. Why traders who want to earn money with your products are too lazy here to deposit reasonable product from Amazon is beyond me. This copy & paste is quite embarrassing.
