Anticipation - the Short Rating: Function: 3/5 stars (insert regular error after, but comes afterwards, not Apple-certified) Processing: 4/5 stars (Sauber worked plug will fit well, cable and housing are a bit fragile) Support: 5/5 stars (customer satisfaction is priority) Price / Performance: 5/5 stars Overall: 4/5 stars Report: I bought on Amazon to Kiwi Camera Connection Kit 3 in 1 for my new iPad 2 Air. The first test was run with an SD card (Class 4) and a Micro SD card HC Class. 4 Both worked well with the orig. Adapter / Card Reader for iPad 2 / Doc Connector. (Then called by Apple as affordable double - now can you pay at Apple for two items 50 euros - so I thought - try to use an alternative). In both cases the SD Import dialog is displayed by photo app, disappears, appears and disappears, and so on. Sometimes when it is long enough to import several images tentatively - then during the import process starts - it disappears again and I get only 2 of 10 selected images. Sometimes the message "This accessory is not supported by this iPad" appears, and it works no longer first. Nothing helped: plugs out and back in, update system (8 8.1 8.1.1). Naustart (ipad from shutdown to) nothing changes. Also the complete reset of the iPad including reinstallation of iOS 8.1.1 -. Nothing (just a lot of time wasted). I now return überleg order original USB / card adapter or brave again?
Should anything change yet still I give immediate 5 star (although the material is extremely cheap - but it does not cost much) So either the hardware is defective - or iOS 8 and later does not work with this adapter.
There followed a lengthy email to the customer service of Kiwi. Problems with error messages under iOS 8 were acknowledged and regretted, but it should work anyway. I have to say really, was how much effort there at all costs to achieve customer satisfaction was exemplary and tip. The problems were confined ultimately to a specific SD card whose electricity consumption seemed too demanding for the adapter. The solution was to leave in the camera and connect it via USB.
Other SD card and mini SD card (note the latter have to be used against the imprint) functioned (soon I'll get a Class 10 and test it). A MIDI master keyboard (M-Keys) worked via USB and was even supplied with sufficient electricity.
Conclusion: who wants to perfect smooth running, should buy the original Apple USB Adapter and combined with a 5 USB card reader. Then one is 35 euros and on the safe side.
BUT: Who wants to save and to live with error messages gets a versatile adapter with the Kiwi for little money.
