The 4 modes supported by this camera are:
- Normal mode (default).
- JBOD mode.
- RAID0 mode
- RAID1 mode
The switch position (switch) is stated in the documentation although with detailed explanations of each mode in impeccable French. The last 3 modes require reformatting.
The discs are easily mounted on the central portion which is then inserted into the aluminum housing.
I use the normal mode. Discs containing data once mounted in the housing are recognized as two independent discs by Windows 7. Does not require a re-formatting. Which is a good thing. I used this mode with 2 TB drives. According to the literature, the case also supports disks up to 4TB. But I do not have that ability to check. She also writes that the housing supports USB3. I do not think because the included cable is USB2.
In operation, the small fan of 5cm in diameter makes a lot of noise. For this reason, I removed one star. I unplugged the fan and all you hear is the sound of two hard drives. We must put the box in a vertical position to prevent heat from below the disc back on the built-in drive. In this vertical position, I worked 2 discs for hours without the aluminum case is hot. For cons, I recommend the horizontal position.
The transfer rate in normal mode is not high around 13 MB / sec. When not seeking the discs for a few minutes, the discs are no longer supplied to conserve energy and reduce heat output.
It's been almost a month that I use constantly. It has reliable air.
Given the price on Amazon for this kind of case 2 drives compared to other brands, I highly recommend this camera.
