I was glad when it heard that are produced as a new edition in England from 2007. classic Dr. Martens shoes with the addition of The Vintage Collection, but the exorbitant prices deterred me compared to the prices of the 90 Martens also Made in England - from the purchase from.
The Asian models were not an option for me, after I had a pair in your fingers.
So I wore my now 18 years of age, blue 8 hole boots (DM1460Z) until today with the usual wear and tear, as worn soles and deep cracks in the leather on the collapse of the toe cap and the kink of the Achilles tendon.
The desire for a new pair of Dr. Martens was loud and when I saw then here offerings from reduced loafers (DM1461) in cherry red, I had to strike.
Motivations for buying the half shoe in this rather conspicuous color compared to the 8 hole classic in black were in addition to the reduced price that the shoe is naturally more comfortable when boarding and more comfortable to wear in the office, as an 8-hole model. I also like the contrast of the color to a dark jeans.
The shoes came in a classy-looking shoe box with a cloth-like dark red surface. On the cover is emblazoned proudly in golden letters the famous Dr. Martens Air Wair writing and including the addition made in England.
In the box were clean paper wrapped both shoes with the typical yellow stitching, in a rich red, surrounded by a subtle smell of leather. The build quality is impeccable, what by many Monday models made in England probably is not even understandable given Coursing rumors. The remaining visible seams next to the yellow trademark seams are sewn with a light beige thread, at the Asian models a thread in the color of the shoe is used here.
The vintage models are based on the models of the 60s and 70s and therefore have a few subtle differences to the models from the 90s and of course the models from Asia.
Production:
Models from the Vintage range are manufactured in original factory (Wollaston, Northamptonshire) of shoemakers with the original construction techniques crafted. In the Asia models I do not want to know who produces them under what conditions.
The Leather:
At Vintage model is the leather uppers from Quilon, a remake of the classic original Dr. Martens leather; durable, with a smooth surface and a bit harder than the leather of Asian models and stronger in the material appearance and to the touch. In addition, the original shiny leather is not like that of Asia models always look for me a little longer than for rubber to leather; Vintage the models need in contrast to the Asia models a longer time of entering.
The outsole:
The Vintage model carries the Dr. Martens cross with the references to the Oil, Fat, Acid, Petrol, alkali resistance and the lettering Made in England. The sole is slightly wider than that of models from the 90s.
The 90 model in addition to bearing the insignia of the vintage model nor the additional title The Original.
In Asia model lacks compared to the 90 model of Made in England lettering that Sihle is much brighter than that of England models.
The insole:
The Asian models wearing the Dr. Martens Airwair lettering and are initially more comfortable than the vintage models, carrying a golden Air Wair lettering and the reference to the Bouncing Soles, producing handmade and the country of origin England.
The yellow outer seam:
The famous yellow outer seam is slightly uneven than in Asia models (machine production) in England models (manual labor).
On the Asian models a Dr. Martens stamp is on the outside of the leather near the ankle imprinted which have not England models and interfere in my eyes even the smooth and clean overall appearance of the shoe.
