This zoom is one of the sharpest and best, which can be purchased from Canon. I was very long and hard busy and varied between the more intense and much heavier brother - the 2.8er and this same model with 4-IS. The latter, it has become now.
Reason?
This lens is said to have a focus, otherwise reach the only fixed focal length - and I can press! It is not necessary to resharpen shots - and that was for me the reason to buy.

The stabilizer of the latest generation will not miss the little bit of light intensity of the big brother!
As in the review before mine, I agree that clear shots with active IS with 1/30 itself - 1/40 and 200mm are possible. Such recordings can we forget without stability;) (unless of course, one drags a tripod around with them).
Whoever between the version 1: 4 L USM varies (without IS) and this version with IS, which I highly recommend - give the 500 euros from more! It is worth it!
the smallest representative without IS often struggling with back focus must therefore be readjusted consuming and is not protected against splash water and dust. Also, it works with less lenses and not all depends on the imaging performance of the 70-200 1: 4 L IS USM.
I have found for me almost a panacea. Only almost, because nature does not imply a wide-angle shots are possible.
Nevertheless, this objective is now my "always on it."
