This review refers to the mask of 34191 Rubies, consisting of mask and helmet and is also often acted as "Rubies Darth Vader Deluxe" mask times - although it is only 1 version of this screen are in only 1 version without differences, which Zustatz the "Deluxe" is meaningless.
The product image shows the helmet in very unfavorable manner because
1) not properly assembled (helmet sits in real much deeper on the mask!)
2) incomplete (3 Chorm shiny parts are the triangular mouth filter area available)
Scope of supply:
The offer is - as mentioned - of helmet and mask, which are held together with Velcro strips glued. Packed is all in a front and sides open carton that protects the helmet, the mask but for scratches etc. to some extent unfulfilled.
Size:
In terms of size, helmet and mask (in my opinion) should fit in any adult head. I have it - in spite of my rather large head and the many long hair - offer more than enough space. I would have to stick 1cm foam under the roof of the mask even so they do not so deep seated and when turning the head to the shoulders seated / along rubs.
To tighten up I had the mask-helmet Set not take apart, but just could to impose (thanks to a certain flexibility of Velcro spot). Pulling out was also easy. very convenient.
Material:
Mask and helmet of black hard plastic, which allows a little flexibility over short-term deformations low Außmaßes or less force. The surface is glossy, but can occasionally fine scratches, etc. exhibit. Greasy fingerprints can be seen. Sculpting / authenticity:
Allegedly / molds from the 70s made by the Don Post Molds original, but notwithstanding, no relief font inside the helmet or the helmet Krause.
The helmet design is based on Episode IV (A New Hope), recognizable by the Helm Spitz between the eyes. Compared with the film original is missing some details ("tears" on the back cams parts), certain parts are incorrectly proportioned (tubes on the sides of the mask is too thick, helmet compared to the face too flat and small) designed or otherwise ( the silver "Tusk" parts of the mouth are just flat disks instead of kicking out parts). In addition, the mouth area of the mask relative to the forehead of the helmet is a little too far in front (I think at least).
The mask is not 100% symmetrical, which is because the original masks from the episodes IV-VI were asymmetrical. Symmetrical has only been in Episode III Vader helmet / mask.
Processing:
For the price (27-40 euros) certainly in order. However, there are certain problems that I observed on several helmets:
- Tips or corners of the jaw bone parts are not exact and smooth but uneven or slightly deformed (probably by design release from the mold), which is a pity.
- Lower knew and corners of the neck portion partially quite sharp, which can be painful when wearing and can cause damage to clothing / skin while rotating the head.
- Helmet peak between the eyes not really exactly trimmed or cut off (wavy cutting edge, shame at such a succinct point of the mask)
- Occasionally small scratches in plastic (for manufacturing, packaging, transportation, sale)
- Sharp edges in the area around the eyes inside the mask
- Cast spot at the top of the helmet dome clearly
Ergonomics / functionality:
The field of view of the mask is reasonably well because you are near the front in the mask and therefore sees not only the area directly in front of the mask. Down the field of view is not so flexible, which is noticeable when climbing stairs.
The eyeglasses have a sufficient ambient light seen (slightly darker than sunglasses, much brighter than by welding shield), but the sight picture is somewhat distorted at times because of the finish or curvature of the eye glasses.
The helmet is - as mentioned - sufficiently large, which caused some people could possibly cause problems (for example, when the head rotates but does not, or if a press of the helmet, the inner edges against the eye, because the helmet has slipped too deep). Eyeglass wearers should get into trouble, since a pair of glasses probably not likely to really go out under the mask.
The neck region could quietly be shorter and slightly narrower (for my taste). I had the mask at least somehow always closely attached to the neck (eg by clamping under a shirt collar), as they would otherwise have been too deeply slipped because of the many game space inside or inclined due to the gravity of the helmet backwards.
I could hear reasonably well in the mask. Whether I have, however, sufficiently well understood my fellow men, I doubt because I had to be quite noisy but to penetrate.
As for breathing, small holes or a grid of plastic mitgegossenes in the mask mouth / throat area are available. These 1 each larger hole on the sides of the mask (located at me while wearing the mask below the ears), that could be possibly used to attach a rubber band or other fastening means. Breathing / sucking air could possibly be improved by a grobmaschigeres grid, because you have to breathe a bit strained to the air by several centimeters distant grid durchzusaugen.

I have looked around for alternatives to Rubies 34191 Vader mask, but was able to unfortunately do not really full or suitable for the budget conscious alternative identify because it has this almost always been only cheaper made half-masks of Vader-head or expensive collector Helmets fiberglass in the price range several hundred euros and more.
The Rubies (similar design at Episode III or V, which just because I'm not so sure) 34199 Supreme helmet offered by Rubies Germany, according to company site only in a set with the Supreme costume (well 900+ euros), is much greater, stuffed with foam parts as spacers and even less authentic for film submission (falche form of ventilation slots, etc.). It can be purchased through Amazon's British or American and exotic new branch office at Market Place, is priced and with shipping and customs but usually on amounts of more than 100 euros, which is a shame, because it - as far as I could make it in experience - a standard helmet is for Fan mods / replicas, for the Internet series "Chad Vader - Day Shift Manager" was used and also the "Darth Vader Project" was used.
The Hasbro full helmets (incl. Voice Changer) I could not find in toy stores, in online trading it cost like to more than 100 euros a piece, but they are unlikely to be worth in my opinion.
Price-performance ratio:
In my view, a very satisfactory value for money, because otherwise you will only get a simple one-piece Vader-half masks for the same price. In addition, the 34191 Rubies Darth Vader mask is reasonably stable / suitable for children / play resistant and does well on the shelf or in the showcase as a decorative object very well.
Personal conclusion:
I am very glad that I did not put me off from the product photos unfavorably selected leave. I buy the 34191 Vader mask (price at the time: 28 Euro + 10 Euro shipping) was a good decision with which I am happy to this day.
