Have the Slide Duplicator seen in a test and was only a little skeptical. Ordered and immediately tried with my Panasonic Lumix FZ7. The adapter ring there was the camera accessories already have and thus found its first use. Even the first quick shots against the setting sun were already convincing. I have then set up the work more efficiently using an old slide projector and a tripod. The results were more than satisfactory. When setting I chose 'manual' and played a bit with the aperture and shutter speeds. Good results I got with aperture widths of 8.0 and adjusted exposure times. This can be adjusted quickly using a small joystick in the preview at the Lumix. So if you want to archive important slides without much knowledge, is well served with Hama Slide Duplicator. Trying same results should get a scanner to the 150 Euro failed miserably! The naming and cataloging the images is about reading the camera software (eg ZoomBrowser EX Canon) quite easily and quickly. Conclusion: It may not always be expensive and a DSR is also not absolutely necessary !!
Tip: there are tools on the net favorable to some old slides "spice up" eg Ashampoo Photo Optimizer (freeware in Sonderheft & DVD CHIP: Foto & Video).
