"Economics" by Gregory Mankiw and Mark P. Taylor is one of the standard works for aspiring economist. In just over 800 pages they both convey all the information you need to understand the basic relationships in economics.
The book is written simple to understand and despite English. Even more complex issues are well illustrated thanks earthy formulations. The book is didactically well structured and contains many illustrations and diagrams illustrating the essential again visually.
