After I have read especially the first reviews on the EOS 1100. For image quality, the decision to switch was passed quickly for me. Almost too fast as I then noticed because - as already reported several times in previous reviews - Canon has (partially and in my opinion, in the wrong places) saved in the new EOS 1100 really excessive.
What I really pushed uncomfortable (in retrospect), were mainly two savings:
1) No more mirror lockup (for macro and telephoto photography is a MUST !!!) and
2.) no automatic sensor cleaning more (you'll be surprised now if the photos show the visible only at the computer corner of dust on the sensor or not ...).
CANON course had to invent even a new battery so that you can no longer use the old batteries of 1000 - is already clear to me. The fact that the camera now looks like a plastic Bomber, I can cope with, however. That she has not become faster (but also a bit slower), I can also withstand well in this price segment. In the video function I could turn can easily do without, because I want to take pictures with a SLR and films a camcorder use - but that probably sees the target audience differently.
All in all I have to switch Although no regrets, but I can recommend a switch from 1000 to 1100 only those who - like me - want to shoot necessarily in higher ISO ranges and to put up with from time to time the sensor manually having to clean from dust. Instead mirror lock you have then just to LiveView recourse, if one wants to avoid Wckler by triggering.
3.5 stars because of the (for me tw. Not comprehensible) function and the total savings too modest price-performance ratio.
