For each criticism with regard to the current government (French and European), the author shows that there are other ways to do, the results are more positive for the people and for the environment, but also for companies and the economy. It asks the right questions. Everything is very well argued, developed, justified. It is not the easy criticism or ideas in the air. Many topics are covered: democracy (and post-democracy mentioned Crouch), the problems of society, the Brotherhood, and the FN (re) rise of the far right, international politics, the duo France-Germany The ecological transition course, and ecology in general, trade and industry, competition with China, capitalism / growth, Europe, anti-globalization, agriculture, CAP, HADOPI, TAFTA and so on ... All this makes sense, and is really relevant.
I read in another review that it was more political than anything else: it's true. I confess that, although the speech is very accessible and easy to read, I took time to complete my reading, because politics and economics do not eat like Stephen King ... But I do not regret in no time I devoted to it because it's really rewarding and hopeful. Sure, Yannick Jadot made a little apology ecologists parties: but these are his convictions and his proposals to the evils of today, it is precisely the subject! I do not see there proselytizing as it admits the errors and faults of his party, which does not escape its "critical" and that all proposals it makes are well reasoned.
There are so many passages that I quote:
- "The current system makes it acceptable to others that we would never accept for ourselves and our loved it then kills the Brotherhood, which is the same spirit of a community of citizens." ...
- "(...) For the interventions of France in what was its colonial empire, priority, even before help is to stop harming"
- "The material accumulation does not offset the increase in inequality between households, between generations and between the territories it does not make (...) unbearable cohabitation between waste and deprivation."
- "The nation that will hold the leadership of clean energy will be the nation that leads the global economy of the 21st century" (recalling a speech of President Obama)
- "The proper place of politics, it is that which gives others the chance to find their"
- "Easy to exploit the economic crisis to those who want to postpone indefinitely the changes to commit, wanting neither energy transition or development model change or questioning a system where 20% of the world population consume 80% of global resources. (...) Inaction is a crime against humanity "...
About aberrations of agriculture as it is today:
"We almost forget (...) that the grass grows by itself and is an amazing food for herbivores and potential energy savings" (common sense, I tell you!)
I will stop here because it is already too much advise you to read the entire book. The conclusion summarizes the problem perfectly and about, and ends with the hope and the desire to move. But perhaps a previous reviewer is right: perhaps only those who have already earned these causes will be convinced. One thing is certain: it would be nice if our leaders had read ... For my part, you already know where I stand!
