Amused To Death (CD)

Customer Review

This is by far the best solo album of the author, a concept album based on a book by Neil Postman, Amusing Ourselves to Death, that decrypts the habits of an ultra-media society, it's Amused to Death Roger Waters, aeuvre both terribly modern while lying in a great tradition to which it honors, first installment in a wad truth.
As often with Waters, a boy held by his obsessions, developing the concept of the album began long before its release, during the creation of his previous album, in fact, the controversial but recommended Radio KAOS In fact, the album dangerous decadence of Western society (capitalism, war, media, contempt for others, etc.), dark aeuvre therefore, we usually taciturn with the Waters, Amused to Death is not exactly the kind of album we advise to chronic depression. Although the music, often pierced with irreplaceable beauty, tempers the darkness of matter. Because composition side, Roger has exceeded! From the introductory The Ballad of Bill Hubbard, a beautiful song atmosphere with a powerful recitative and moving strings, it is taken by a creative whirlwind that will not fail, modern and classic progressive rock at a time, of his time in the sound but still heir to the golden era (the 70s!) in the way. Subsequently, between epic rock (What God Wants Part I, The Bravery of Being Out of Range), and nuanced compositions (Watching TV with the vocal contribution of Don Henley Eagles, It's a Miracle and the magic of the old moog colleague of Madonna, Patrick Leonard, ethereal Three Wishes or a masterly conclusion Amused to Death), is a perfect musical panorama for those who appreciate its exploratory and melodic rock.
With a line-up "all-star" come to contribute more to show that (Jeff Beck, Luis Conte, Steve Lukather, Jeff Porcaro, Don Henley, etc.), a production absolutely perfect, rich texturing moult field-recordings, clear and precise, and therefore a compositional assembly constituting the undeniable pinnacle of the career of Roger Waters solo, Amused to Death, almost the equal of the best hours of his former band, ie!, is a album more than recommended, mandatory!
