After much back and Across Place I decided against a new external case and for this docking station. I want to anticipate at this point right away that I regret my decision in any way.
The Cabstone dock is high-quality and nice to look at. It is not very big and takes on the desktop according to a bit of space for themselves. Power supply, eSATA and USB cable are included. (With a 50cm long USB cable to do Although not a particularly big jumps; nowadays it is, after all, but not a big deal anymore, a correspondingly longer cable nachzukaufen).
The drive was (7 64-bit Windows) detected on my notebook both eSATA, and USB immediately. Even my netbook (Windows 7 32-bit) had in recognizing the dock no problem.
The two USB hubs on the front work perfectly. If you have connected the entire docking station with eSATA, so the two terminals are indeed Electrified (MP3 player charging etc.), but it can no data transfers, etc. are made, shall be called, Windows does not recognize the media as such PLUGABLE ,
If you close the docking station via USB, however, so data transfers can be made via the two additional USB ports.
Present I have connected two external hard drives to the docking station, so operate a total of three hard drives over a USB port on your notebook / netbook. Class!
The transfer rates are great. Both eSATA, and USB 2.0 are maxed out according to their maximum efficiency.
The docking station can be turned off by a switch on the back, which makes it unnecessary to them each separately unplug.
The only thing that makes me a little skeptical:
Have the product offered here now already googled extensively, the associated Spartan "manual" (because if one ever can call it that) downloaded from the website of cabstone - I simply can not find a description of the correct "complete" process ...
Since I in the past beautifully often problems with external hard drives had (VLT. Also just unlucky), I have got used to treat my "data graves" like raw eggs shall be called "Safely remove" under Windows, if this is not possible hard disk with the PC shutdown etc.
When presented here cradle me such an option is missing. "Safely remove" is, if connected via USB, possible, but the disk rotates hear and feel more. In my opinion - - When I press the switch on the back, the plate is simply removed from the current, so nothing because of "the availability of proper and safe shutdown of the plate".
I'm not sure whether this can actually harm the plate serious or whether my discomfort is simply due only to my exaggerated paranoia concerning. "Festplattentod".
For the uneasy feeling that remains in each off the docking station for me, I prefer from a star.
Otherwise: Super part and a strong buy recommendation!
