Who thinks here due to some reviews, noting that there is only a way to save the recipes for going to massage, you are wrong. Myofascial Training should be part of any training of any sports and actually also the daily routine of every human being. Of course you can thus quite well to massage your own back, no question.
Short back to my physical experience of 2011: at a screening of my ability to move (FMS by Gray Cook, described in the book "Movement") in advance of a handball season it became clear that I not "suffer" under any muscular asymmetries, I but am pretty hüftsteif, therefore could not perform squat without significantly to fold the upper body forward. A short roll-out of the legs and the neck area with a tennis ball and a "Touch-toe progression" later went exactly this movement so much better. Now, shortenings, which have built up over the years to make, of course not betting in minutes. Nevertheless, showed me these brief warm-up exercises, which is possible in the long term by such a small corrective action.
And this is exactly why I do not recommend anyone athletes but also every human being, to deal with this type of training. Who wants to know more, should more accurately keep records of Gray Cook, Michael Boyle, Mark Verstegen and the very medical, but also very good "Anatomy Trains" once to mind. Here you learn for example, that stretching the known just after being rolled out in medicine as trigger points, fascial nodules makes sense because the stimulus to extend the muscles in the brain will not be overwritten by the pain of trigger points and thus to greater or even leads to success.
Why the Black Roll?
You do not need to roll out the fascia basically naturally this role: A tennis ball and - for experienced - a little harder baseball with plastic core is doing the same thing. The role has the advantage (and of course at the same time the disadvantage) of a larger rolling surface, which should be obvious to specific muscle areas. So for the hip muscles and latissimus I prefer the role, for the feet of the tennis ball. I have got used to, for example, always unroll the soles while brushing your teeth with the tennis ball. Still, I wanted this role because of the higher pressure on pain points in some parts of the body is difficult to bear and, for example along the spine determined not conducive in all areas. "More is better" is certainly popular only in the regularity and not in pain.
Too expensive?
Everybody has to decide for themselves. Of course it's just a foam roller. If someone manages to build the whole yourself, then you can do the course. Definitely, there are also cheaper alternatives from other firms. These can be regarded naturally. Basically you should test if the hardness of your own body is right and if the material is durable and harmless to health. The material that comes in Blackroll used is truly indestructible. I've seen go through a roller a car - on the role, there was no trace. For 30 euros incl. Exercise DVD and Training Poster I find the price just for the effect that one takes very well. Anyone who thinks that he / she will manage alone with tennis balls, which should thus work out as often as possible at least. More motivation gives me the role. Whenever I see this somewhere lying around, put or I sit mostly shortly thereafter.
What color / which hardness?
Is actually in the descriptions of individual Blackroll variants. Black should fit rather for each average people, white people with preloads, for example, scar tissue by surgery or other physical damage -. So rather for therapeutic measures Orange is the hardest variant and most people from my environment who have tested the black against the orange, mostly too hard. However, I will now manage very well.
Basically recommended?
Definitely. And please do not leave it in the corner after two weeks. Deal with the fascia and learn the importance of this type of training is to remain flexible and healthy - from pencil pusher to professional athletes. For me, the rolling is now an integral part of the daily routine.
I hope I can bring some people to do so by this review, the Faszientraining also to try again, and possibly also to operate regularly. It is worth it ...
