DELIVERY:
Unlike the x00-er series, which includes a TMC-car charger and microUSB cable, in this case is only normal charger cable without TMC receiver. An existing TMC charger from Go500 loads the 6000 lediglich.Konsequent because the 6000 is designed for GSM network LifeTime- (TomTom) traffic.
FEATURES AND HANDLING:
The magnetic active support is expected good, the capacitive (plastic) screen responds pleasantly fast. The menu of the device is quasi facelifted and greatly reduced. A matter of taste. Compared to the "old" series, the 6000 has a more modern route display with 3D representation of the map and building representation. This, however, as with other manufacturers, partly at the expense of overview. Verbal route guidance dispensed (TomTom typical) Article and a whole always clear.
The satellite Fix succeed blazing speed, the route guidance is used well. Intermediate stops are easy to plan, by activating on the map. The Navi shows while driving in the bottom of the screen and the default (red) to the actual speed. Lane guidance has also been revised and now provides better information. The manual entry of coordinates for navigation is now possible.
Unfortunately, as already the GO500 that (even with the old 1000 series) determined partly inconsistent positioning also an issue here. Apart from local rare, inner-city common in 3D. Estimated between 20-30m (even after device replacement). The service information to factory settings reset, the problem is not down, but put out (as was expected) my favorites.
With its excellent LifeTime- (TomTom) TomTom Traffic has still a unique selling point over other manufacturers. The quality of the data has no equal. Garmin, for example, can access with the time even pay around 20 EUR and is to my own experience with the 3597 "could be expanded".
In contrast to the X000-Series x00er he come with a built-in SIM card "always connected", ie the coupling accounts for the mobile phone and therefore also especially abroad the concern about the resulting data volume. It thus will be no additional costs. During my trips, there was unfortunately quite before that LifeTime- (TomTom) Traffic was not available. Annoying as it yet the surcharge of currently around 90 EUR substantiated by 600 to 6,000. So with no Plan B (the device involves the use of standard TMC not before) somehow stupid. To be fair, but said it was only once for a few minutes to failure, but from the experience of the old 1,000-series with frequent Unerreichbarkeiten am I bitten.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer dispensed to work on the possibility of using voice commands, thereby that the partial blocking of routes in case of need is not implemented yet still especially, very annoyed. In addition, improved voice commands and passive safety, as the driver's hands remain on the steering wheel. How well this can work, the manufacturer has already demonstrated in other series (eg VIA). So why the backward roll? A speakerphone is also missing is for me due to fixed installation but irrelevant.
POIs can use the search even during an active route are activated, but unfortunately this is very awkward in practical actions. Here shows the competition how to do it better. The POIs are offered content and especially in terms of timeliness great need of improvement. Custom POIs can incidentally with using the new MYDRIVE software currently (as of 1/14) no longer be transferred to the device. Neither existing POIs can be removed.
For software, I can only repeat what has been criticized in previous reviews. Or, more positive: There is still room for improvement. The manufacturer strives honestly to expand the range of functions with software updates on a contemporary level, however, remains a stale aftertaste. For a premium price, I expect a premium device. And at the moment of purchase and not after the nth update.
CONCLUSION:
Good route planning with GSM traffic (if there are no failures). From A to B, the GO6000 navigated properly if no (also known) road closures present. Posionierungsabweichungen which may in particular cause in large cities to faulty trips, as gloomy as the unfinished overall impression the image of a premium device.
