That disappointment on arrival.
At the opening of Amazon package, a common plastic blister instead of those cardboard boxes that I always carefully and in which we arrange all manuals, accessories, cables and chargers. Then no cover but a plastic hood: no way to have the machine a possible checklist, or a cable connection.
Naturally no "true" manual in French.
To HP support, I unpack the charger and I have the joy to see that the adapter French sector is absent, there is the Anglo-Saxon adapter. Luckily I had my eating raspberry!
The time that HP is charging, I look a little French manual on CD and soon found it impossible to use it directly on the screen as references to other chapters, others pages are common. It must be printed to be able to peruse and extra color, after testing, because of certain characters in plain color. What additional cost and what time lost these almost 700 pages!
The charge calculator, early reading manual I finally lit the beast ... which starts in algebraic. Looking through menus to select RPN mode and begins to strum.
What a desappointment! This is not an RPN machine is a pale emulation of RPN, we find the best on the Net. In short, everything that makes the speed and efficiency of RPN is absent. Handling the "swap" absurd, no storage or recall, 1 / x indirect ... I think even for a regular on NPR this is error generator. Furthermore, failure to maintain RPN mode when using the applications.
Best of all, the fourth use of EEX key, it collapsed.
In conclusion, the HP Premium is not in my view an RPN machine. It differs little competition except perhaps by his screen.
If I had been more information provided, I would not have bought it. My old and ugly 48 HP still has good days ahead ...
I return to this comment after a few weeks of use:
I had the very bad surprise, while I was using the machine so all very normal, very basic, to see no reason to hang. More no key answer, more tactile capacity. The point of being forced to make a "reset". After this reset, the machine restarts but the use of certain keys systematically led to a reboot of the machine. Eg. pressing "Apps" turned off the machine cycled alone after, but application access: shame! Likewise the content of the memory was locked: despite deletion or addition of new elements, with each restart the content of the memory of crashing before reappeared. I removed the battery in desperation, waiting several days in vain, this state remains.
Me about to return the machine, naturally under warranty, I had the idea to connect the HP to a computer. Same result by acting from the computer. For cons, I had access to the flash of the machine tools, that I hastened to do as it was the last possible resource before returning the machine. A flash is always dangerous because if it goes wrong, the unit may become unusable.
Miracle: After flashing, the machine has restarted normally reverting any functional.
I therefore conclude that the HP Prime was marketed with an unfinalized firmware: it is true that the finalization is the longest and most costly in software development. Flashing here is to correct fatal errors not to be made, which is its original purpose, improvements. I am even more amazed at the lack of finalization as applications on the HP are now widely proven.
I DO NOT OSE IMAGINE WHAT WOULD PASS IF PLANTING A LIE MACHINE HAD OCCURRED DURING REVIEW OF MY CHILDREN. We are far from the reliability of an HP 41 that was embedded in the space shuttle in the 80s.
After use, so I recommend buying this machine. I put 2 stars at first, I get out of a car reliability is not present.
