In my desktop computer WD hard drives have been ever built, and up to an old age to good term, I previously had auchnie worries or troubles with my WD HDs. Go I have a WD MyPassport, but even these data collected are now finding their way onto the MyBook station.
But for MyBook for Mac: I had the plate though brought a Mac version, but now yet decided on my new computer for a Windows system, which with a simple reformat is not a problem. The drive is recognized immediately and could also be taken as soon as possible in operation. As is well known from my MyPassport hard drive, you can play the WD SmartWare, thus leaving the whole as a fully automated backup solution permanently running in the background. This saves the idle safety copy by hand and holding an automatic on the safe side.
The encryption of data is via WD Drive Utilities also no problem, but should be taken seriously: who loses the key, loses its data, so be careful!
Of course, the 3TB version offers plenty of storage space for data. For me it is primarily graphic stuff what so quickly times can clutter a hard drive. Access via USB3 is super snappy and it is a pleasure to see how the data only fly so. Smoothness, volume and heat output are all satisfactory and I hope for a similar long shelf life as the rest of my WD drives, but should there be problems in the near term inappropriately, I'll note here.
Last but not least a few quick words about the design: the paperback format makes itself very nice on the desk, so because of this thing is also neat. At shakier constructs I would caution that the hard drive but only just now a fragile object. But on the whole, the book looks very nice and is very functional designed primarily. Connection for power and USB are located on the back, the appropriate cables are of course at.
CONCLUSION: space-saving and fleet backup solution with lots of space. Although optimized for Mac in the delivery, but can equally well be used for win-computer with a few simple steps.
