I use the camera as a "Everywhere-down-with-camera" next to my mirror reflections. Because the P7000 also allows manual control, it is natural to make sizable photos even in small luggage. It also includes several filters such as neutral density filter, polarizing filter, star filter and a variety of Cokin graduated filters. All these filters I have 77mm in standard size and used if necessary to adapter rings so as not to have any filter x times.
All filters work in combination with an adapter 58 to 77 mm properly. In wide angle (divided tube) and at the telephoto end (2nd ring screwed). It is important to protect the camera from damage that the lens is not one drives in the telephoto range with split tube. Who wants to be sure, is the use of a wide-angle converter in the menu!
No matter how I use the tube, is still working properly, is universally usable and requires no permanent extension and retraction of the lens as a Vorrezensend wrote. The lens extends only then in the wide-angle position, if one decreases the tube. But same happens also with the ring, the Nikon mitliefert as standard, so is intentional and not a defect.
A very practical and universal accessories at a reasonable price.
