How to talk about a father who has very little known, whose life has long remained a mystery for you? Ange? From My? The curse? Forgive him? The narrator has chosen the path of an imaginary dialogue, alternating his own memories with the notes written over time by the absent father, found his affairs after his death. Each chapter takes the title character (random: Jean-Pierre LĂ©aud, Dustin Hoffman, a cop, a clown) to which the father has been like during his metamorphoses. Fragile, yet he had everything to him, intelligence, beauty, that of the body and of the heart, but it was inhabited by a constant unhappiness, never the little spark that makes you happy and allows you to exist of love. His periods "splendor", his loves and his trades between psychiatric stays and homelessness, have never been as pretense, desperate attempts to exist in the eyes of others, her children first. Remarkably well written, this short novel takes you by the throat, and the fellowship is complete with the two characters. We suffer, laugh with them. What more could a novel?
