- LCD TV: Samsung 46a656 (series 6)
- AV Receivers: Onkyo TX-SR308
- Satellite Receiver: Smart MX04 HDCA
- In addition, a 15-year-old stereo system from JVC, in which the original remote control was not even available.
- And a total of 3 Funksteckdosen type OneForAll HC8000 (a socket is supplied with the remote control)
The decor of all units went slightly out of hand. The German manual very simply describes the procedure. Since my AV receiver and the satellite receiver are new to the market, the code for these two units were not pre-stored. On the manufacturer's website can be found by a simple search function but easily the matching code and can then upload to the remote control this. To this end, a sound file is downloaded from the manufacturer's site and played through the PC speakers. The remote control is held against the speaker and gets by the sounds transmitted codes. That might sound strange, but it works extremely well. Subsequently, the new devices can operate.
But yes halt, some keys do not work! Do not worry, the URC 8350 is capable of any (!) To learn the function of the original remote control. For this both remote control are placed each other. First, choose a free button on the URC 8350, on which the function is to be learned. The fast blinking LED on the URC 8350 signaled readiness. Then the copy button on the original remote control. The LED confirms successful learning with dual flash and already can the URC 8350 serving any special functions of the original remote control.
That is not all. Also macro dominates the URC 8350. I have the following automatic operating sequence set with me, which is triggered when I hold the AV button on the URC 8350 pressed:
1. Switch on TV
2. Select HDMI output
3. Turn on the satellite receiver
4. Place AV Receiver on Audio input "SAT receivers"
The establishment of such macros is relatively simple. One chooses the button on the URC 8350, with which the macro will run. Then you just go through the complete key sequence that could have been carried out in normal use. The URC-8350 will remember the sequence and saves it to the preselected key. Even the radio-controlled sockets can be installed with the macros (for example, if one has yet to turn on the upstream outlet before turning on the TV because the electricity would otherwise be interrupted).
A few words for processing, feel and design:
The remote control is by the rounded shape well in the hand. It is neither too big nor too small and has the right weight. Processing I look at high-quality. The remote control is indeed externally entirely of plastic, but which makes a stable and long-lasting impression. The silver surface gives the design a certain high-quality appearance. What the excellent, well-defined pressure point of all keys is also particularly like me (all the way rubberized)! The division of the keys is a good solution and manages to have been intuitively and without looking at the remote control after a short. Especially the oblique Program changes and volume rocker just below the + Control Pad is very well chosen. In long-term test remains to be seen how Abrasion resistant is the printing on the keys. I've seen at other remote controls that have been removed, for example, the printed numbers on the keys after a short time. So far, the URC 8350 does not make the impression but if I had to worry about in terms of something.
Something else to the radio-controlled sockets:
I have learned that the radio signal does not arrive at any point of space. This means that radio outlets should best be in sight and may not reflect hidden behind a cabinet. Because in my room but also a wireless router makes its service it may be natural that radio communication is therefore somewhat disturbed. I have the outlets simply placed on my table and they react there with no problems, even over long distances over 10m away.
Pros and cons summarized:
+ Impeccable control of up to 4 devices
+ Easily update the remote via speaker sounds
+ Good workmanship and good tactile feedback of the buttons
+ Good layout of buttons
+ Control of radio-controlled sockets (up to 256 pieces)
+ Perfect learning function, each key can be proven and override
+ Easy to program macros incl. Integration of Funksteckdosen
+ Loop through the volume of use on TV possible (program: satellite receiver, volume: TV without a mode change)
o Funksteckdosen slightly susceptible (WLAN router or behind furniture placement)
o no display
o no button illumination
- ALL go case of a later update already learned function first again lost. Remote control must be reprogrammed.
- Internal memory for macros limited to 40 threads (could be short of 4 devices and multiple macros).
Conclusion:
Cheap and hitherto unique remote control with high practicality and ease of use.
Updated on 14.12.2011:
The remote performs still reliable service. I've even bought a socket with a dimmer function for my lamp in the living room to which can also be operated easily. The long-term test has survived without flaws the remote control. All buttons are still well operate and holds the inscription actually stood. As before, I can make a recommendation. Currently, the remote control is available so an absolute bargain price. Here one makes certainly nothing wrong.
