Here is a summary of my points:
+ Good display (color, ...)
+ Good sound
+ Surfing (best with Opera Mini 5) is great, Sites are usually completely visible without zooming, etc.
+ XBMC app goes perfectly from anywhere on the network
+ Installing any apps from the Internet (including those that do not are the AppsLib store) is easy and goes smoothly
+ High-quality workmanship
+ Built-in stand extremely useful
/ The used version of Android is not the latest, but that does not bother
/ Speed of the device is not breathtaking, but also in no way disruptive (for me)
/ Although a resistive touch screen, but quite useful
Tested / battery life well so far, but still not sufficient
- Viewing angle stability is not very good (but not grottig)
- WLAN reception pretty bad
CONCLUSION: It is what I expected: No Super device, no iPad, no "magic" touch screen - but super perfectly adequate for my needs and at a price. Anyone who plays with the idea of buying a tablet should pull the Archos 7 HT into consideration! From me there is a buy rating.
First for the first impression:
The device acts quality, nothing creaks or wobbles. It's harder than I had imagined, but still completely under. (Comment on the edge: The twice as heavy iPad must then indeed be difficult to keep some really nasty, I imagine)
The display has lure of a good size, there is no button except a slider for switching on / off and screen.
So, there was of course equal unpacked and used. Through my own stupidity, there was a small problem, namely I had stupidly plugged the power cable into the headphone jack, instead died suddenly in the correct input, and at some point the device is then naturally. The two connector inputs are almost exactly the same size and next to each other, I did not stupidly bothered to pay attention. Well, Cable reconnected and all went.
Now I'm even more detail to the points already mentioned above:
The touch screen is as I had imagined. Sure, he is not kapazativ but resistive, but in this class, it is absolutely satisfactory.
I bought the Archos 7 HT for the following areas:
1) Browsing the Internet (in bed, on the toilet, only to quickly look up what, look up recipes, ...)
2.) Look video on the go
3.) Remote control my HTPC (especially XBMC)
4.) play little games, if I do not get bored
And these applications I can use it, as far as I can tell so far, covering well. The Internet browsing is well out of hand, I have 5 installed me to the Opera Mini, which in my opinion is better than the (not bad) preinstalled browser.
In general I have been busy for a while with the Apps, and have come to the following conclusion:
- The Appslib Archos has imho most apps that you could need in everyday life.
- What else do you need in addition to this, you can download easily on PC. Simply the .apk file on the Internet search (eg at the Opera site, the operamini.apk) by (supplied) Load standard USB cable to the Archos 7, Archos, select the file, start, install, done. I already with some apps, games, and widgets made, and had so far no problems.
Direct something to the widgets: There are 3 home screens, between which you can switch. The change does not go as smoothly by hand, such as when a new Android smartphone, but good enough. In general, the speed setting is not breathtaking, but never so slowly that it would really bother.
A Task Manager app is actually compulsory, otherwise continue with the whole Android Apps quasi forever what the performance / the battery is not good. Here I had only the Apollo Task Killer (I think) from the AppsLib store, but who has led to strange bugs. Have the now uninstalled instead the Advanced Task Manager Lite downloaded from the Internet, and now works correctly.
The viewing angle stability of the display is not very good, to a multi-view film goes, I think, not very pleasant. That alone is not a problem, in particular the integrated stand is really great. Both image and sound are good. That there is no bearing sensor, meaning the screen will not automatically aligns (portrait / landscape format), is so far not a problem, because it never is really necessary prop. Some apps where it makes sense, such as the ebook reader that automatically make anyway.
The wireless reception is not very good, that is, if it at home anywhere is only a weak signal with you, there could be problems.
The battery is running very well so far, but I have not tested enough to really make a judgment.
Conclusion:
I have the Archos 7 HT fairly exactly looked at me, because I just wanted to keep it, if it really met my needs. And it did. It does what it should do, can what I expected from him, and served its purpose. And all this combined with a great price. Anyone who would also like a tablet, but can not spend so much money / want, or not particularly high demands on the device has, I can recommend A7 HT completely.
