I have no need for a comparison with the Nikkor 18-200, because this is supposed to be bad from the imaging performance, as the 18-105.
There are, however, people who get upset that the very effective stabilizer growls briefly when the off. However, this is irrelevant, because I do not get upset so on even when my partner watching TV times short snores (finally happened to me sometimes). Likewise, not the short tremors bother me in the viewfinder when the stabilizer is switched on. The most important feature of an optical imaging performance is finally.
I can not complain too (see photo 3 "castle and figures") and therefore can not understand the negative reviews in this regard on the sharpness of the Sigma. Photographs only the contrast was improved somewhat, but they have not been re-sharpened. I am impressed by this result.
Have particularly enjoyed the excellent surface feel and excellent processing. The lens looks around noble and leaves that Nikkor 18-105 envy. In addition, of course, is the price - compared with the Nikkor 18-200 - unbeatable.
CONCLUSION:
Those looking for a lens that will cope with almost any shooting situation, provides mainly good to very good results and would not carry around a lot with it, which is well served with this Sigma 18-250. I come to this conclusion from the perspective of amateur photographers. Who "Always-top and Always-In" buys this lens from the point, will be thrilled and is certainly not the Dauerschnarchern.
ADDENDUM:
After I photographed about 1 week with the lens and I now the Nikon have D5000 risen, I realized that focusing the LiveViev unfortunately extremely miserable work, that is in 8 of 10 cases - even in bright light - no focus point found , Therefore, I have to deduct a star from my original review. The weakness is clearly on the lens, because I've tried it on the Nikkor 18 ~ 200 ('ve borrowed an extra one), which provides sharp even slowly, but in most cases. Probably it is due to the slightly weaker intensity of Sigma (max. Aperture 6.3) compared with the Nikkor (max. Aperture 5.6).
ADDENDUM to the conclusion:
Anyone who owns a Nikon without Live View, wants to use the advantages of SLR and lenses do not like change, I recommend I still the Sigma 18 ~ 250th However, anyone who sets great store by LiveView, should reconsider the choice of lens once more maturely and then perhaps the original Nikkor 18 ~ 200 to buy (as I said, my opinion).
