I went to North Korea in 2010, so I read this book in January 2011 with great interest. After reading others, and myself fairly well documented in this country, I think this book by Barbara Demick is very fair, very measured and reflects a closer reality. It is quite exceptional because too often it is polemical and full of judgments, often hasty and poorly documented. I can only advise reading to get an idea of this strange country, outside of time, to understand it better. Congratulations to Ms. Demick for managing to be as objective as possible, while interviewing futgitifs their testimonies that can skew the story. By aileurs, this construction "fictionalized" fugitive persons is a good way to attract the reader while staying in the historic seriously, political and economic.
