The actual AV receiver data are just very good. Excellent sound quality, both in 5.1 (2x Dynaudio Focus as front and two field woods and meadows devil as Rears, no center, no subwoofer) as well as the stereo field. The Denon can compete for stereo sound without any problems technically a NAD C365 BEE amplifier. There are also very good image quality upscaling, very good HDMI compatibility (no stress whatsoever) and many connections.
The Audyssey calibration has gone through so-so and has rework required. She came with my special room conditions (no isosceles Dreickecke speakers and seating position and Rears significantly higher than the front speakers) not as good clear. As a start customizing it was ok.
Operation is simple and clear, the menu structure to understand and the remote control as usual Denon completely overloaded with control functions for other Denon devices. I have programmed the key points on my Harmony Ultimate and placed the "piano" by Denon in the closet.
Up to this point: 1A with asterisk does its job to the fullest satisfaction. Good job reference.
A real drawback is for me the dynamic EQ function. I have experienced it several times, that it has so greatly increased low frequencies while watching TV (for example when a consignment with ocean surf) that Basskalotten my front speakers have extremely deflected. Very visible, so I got worried about my speakers and the function was deactivated again.
Another shortcoming is the lack of audio outputs. Rein goes much goes out de facto only HDMI or outputs for external amplifier (ie after DSP processing etc.). Clean audio outs for eg audio recordings, or a useful headphone amplifier does not exist.
Unfortunately, the marketing droids were with Denon probably think an AV receiver without mode functions and apps would not be complete. I'm waiting for the first toaster with Android remote control. Here a lot of mischief to cost the customer has installed.
- Spotify? WTF is Spotify and how much Denon has conceded it to incorporate this and only this fee-based service?
- AirPlay without video is only half the solution. Who really uses AirPlay, has NEN Apple TV on a budget and needed an audio stream no solution in AV Receiver
- ITunes support is completely messed up! When I play music (and again why no video) will play from my iTunes server, then I want this title to the AV receiver can select (via its remote control). What Denon has built, is 180Grad upside down! I have to select the songs in the iTunes application and then play through iTunes AirPlay on the Denon. Hello? I run for each track selection to my server? So again: Apple TV does the job properly.
- The app is in my opinion, useless. It works (iOS) but it gives me no features that I did not even get in front of the television with remote control. What the hell?
The only useful and well-functioning mode function is Internet radio. Annoying is only that the AV receiver felt like an eternity needed to get to the start of the Internet at my server a network address. Takes loose one minute. I have not yet figured out what he is doing all the time. It should work in the subsecond range.
