This book Provides a great introduction to cosmology and current problems and issues in the field. The book Itself is really gorgeous - it is very well organized and HAS incredible visual appeal. The first parts of book serve to fill the reader in on a number of basic concepts in cosmology. The author Consistently keeps a nice mix of Summarizing general concepts and providing good scientific or mathematical detail. ALTHOUGH there are no hard-core equations in the book, the reader must Be Prepared to do a bit of (simple) math to follow along. Following the background review, the author details in a chronological, Almost historical fashion, the experiments That led us to a lot of what we know about the cosmos and outline the major issues Currently in the field. As a scientist myself (not in this field, though), I found this to be a very refreshing way to talk about science, goal if you are not really interested in this sort of detail, some shares May be a bit tedious. Look out for an updated edition - reading this in 2014, several of the issues or unconfirmed results Described in this book-have-been (partially) Answered or confirmed in the last Few years, as this is a Rapidly Evolving field.
