As described by one or the other reviewers some operational problems have surfaced. Not for anything I've found a solution:
1) When connected to the Macbook Air of unfavorable YCbCr color space and not the more appropriate RGB color space is selected. The view is so very bad. The patch described in another review solves the problem.
2.) If you use the built-in USB hub, which is functioning properly, the monitor will not come out of the Sleep mode again. The reason seems to be because the monitor somehow shoots the Macbook. The only solution here abstöpseln and boot the Macbook new. I have for the moment the use of USB hubs waived (I have enough USB ports on the Express Dock). Whether here the monitor is actually alone guilt, I can not say, possibly the MacOS X (10.8.4) debt. You have to see what happens at Maverick halt.
3.) If I use my Macbook from Express Dock abstöpsel, the monitor to permanently quiet tick-noise ("Ticke-tack" to give about 2 per second) by itself begins. Irritating. I've been watching the phenomenon further. Addendum: The ticking comes even if the Macbook goes into deep sleep. In this case, I have the way back to reboot the Macbook perform. In practice, this is not as bad as it possibly sounds, because I work a few hours on the computer and then the Macbook take with generally to an appointment. However, I have to get used to me, in the evening abzustöpseln the Macbook, which I have not been made out of convenience.
As annoying I feel that under the circumstances Dell Macs quasi not be supported (except for an unexpected choice in the OSD). This comes on the one hand in various forums expressed, such as in the Dell Community, where the responding Dell employees always ensure withdraws that it is Apple to "untested Apple Hardware" is and they therefore could only guess, on the other hand noted to this. to the missing files, or the lack of a Mac version of the included calibration software for PC In the download section of the Dell website you will also find no support (software driver) for the Mac. An indication of this is not entirely unimportant detail I could find anywhere.
Due to the outstanding image and the other principally good features really 5 star, the problems 2 star deduction!
Update (14/10/2013)
Meanwhile, I have to monitor several weeks in operation and am generally quite happy. The positive features of the monitor outweigh the problems.
- The ticking I could reduce the meantime, as I have adjusted the energy saving function on Macbook. In network operation, I have extended the off the monitor on 90 minutes. Since then, the ticking occurs only when I abstöpsle the Macbook from the monitor. Turning off the monitor then solves this problem. My request to the Dell Community failed to reply to the other.
- In the meantime (eg CSR Racing) are in some games occurred problems Farbkalbrierung, to Fehlfarben. Some of the problems I could be traced back to my Belkin Thiunderbolt Expresdock which I annoyingly had abstöpseln now. Nevertheless, the phenomenon occurs every now and then. In my normal applications (eg Office or in Lightroom) I have these problems since then but no longer.
- I have not tried yet again the USB hub.
Update (25/10/2013)
After I have installed on my MacBookAir Mavericks, I suddenly have a native support of the monitor for the monitor with YPbPr color space. The sharpness I had indeed set to zero, otherwise I have now an excellent image. I have my Belkin Thunderbolt Expressdock again in use and am quite happy now. Therefore there one star more.
