Having read many reviews on plasmas and TXP42ST50E particular model, it emerged often:
> Must conduct a running of failing to degrade irreversibly screen. (Burn-in (or burned screen: a chain logo that is displayed for hours and rest a little then displayed), contrast ratio of loss, ...).
So their recommendations is contrast / brightness for at least 100/200/300 hours it depends on the site / internet site, it would run a color bar scroll off the TV using computer eve style (so any eg at night) to get used to the screen, never watch movies with black bands, or put black stripes in gray (awesome), or play on the display when you trim strips (but you lose the image in this case the format is good).
For me I deduced that we can not enjoy his screen only after a certain time, always with the anxiety of having well-oiled (if it abyss).
> Means a "bzzzzz" electrical noise generated by the power of the TV (plus the images are clear over the noise increases as the power supply is requested).
Some comments is perfectly unbearable.
I have a friend who has an "old" plasma (perhaps 6/8 years) that has this problem: it is true that it is annoying, but just when the sound volume is very low, if not one not really understood.
Finally being sensitive to the noise level it gave me even more doubts; for a new product that is still unacceptable to have a background noise during playback.
Several comments on amazon or other concluding with cancellation and refund of the order, so I ordered the Sony LCD which had no bad comments, according to my research.
All was well in the settings, the colors are beautiful, the image processes too, but the big problem is the LCD itself.
There the "clouding" (tasks or lighter halos visible in dark areas), which prohibits any movie viewing in the dark ... and even lights often distinguishes a white spot in the black of image ... as saying that, it was rotting my cinephile viewing from the start.
In tests of this TV it was mentioned some clouding, but never say this is really problematic for a film. To sell?
So I for one product returned and refunded and I ordered this PANASONIC TXP42ST50E, and there miracle:
> Perfect colors once set (and even still factory is superb)
> No ghosting (rapid movement in the image that creates streaks), this is the advantage of the plasma, so no need for digital image processing to compensate (which can be the + -) and perfect for games.
> Absolute black, even in a lighted room, so total immersion in movies in dark atmosphere ^^ The LCD gave greyish black.
> Slab "brilliant" plasma has an anti-reflection ultra effective treatment I have less glare than the LCD that I canceled (semi-gloss tile without anti-glare), and yet I have several light sources in the room. There, to see reflections, must be sought in the image, and not vice versa as with the lcd.
Even in daylight, but not in direct sunlight either, we can watch a dark film (sleepy hollow for example) without any discomfort.
> No noise "bzzzz" I imagine that people who have had this problem fell on defective products ...
There are many web pages where there are adjustments / calibration of the tv, eg [...]
For lapping, we find on the net also various boards (to be taken lightly, because there are extremists running and softer people).
This neo-plasma slab has perhaps (probably?) Not need to be oiled literally: I will at best not to push all settings to the max, and do not use the dynamic mode (which is too bright) but rather "cinema" or "real cinema" and keep the brightness at max 30 (46 ideal but I'll do it later ^^).
The TV also features in the settings automatic movement option pixels that prevents marking the screen to keep the strength of lit too long (chains logos, movie tapes, etc.). There is also a function of black and white bars that move sideways on the screen, if indeed it was found traces remaining visible after many viewings with fixed logos.
So I find it all rather reassuring, and Panasonic is the leader in the plasma market, I have every confidence that this equipment.
Finally, and thanks to the advice I found on the right and left on specialized sites, this TV has deep blacks and uniformity of the image in the LCD inaccessible (in the upscale perhaps, but nothing to do in terms of price), color rendering is top and the image is typical "cinema", which is perfect for me (I have no special affinity rendered "TNT", "foot" or "TV news").
It took a long time to finally find my ideal product in this price range, and I found a product "cheap" a unique quality for that price :)
