Spent quite unnoticed, the Lenovo A10 Tab is a homecoming modernized the concept of "very small computer cheap" and inevitably think of the first of its kind, the Eee PC 7-inch Asus released in 2007.
If the technology has evolved and that has 16GB of internal storage (4GB rather than as then with the pioneer Asus model), the principle remains the same:
AUTONOMY, SIZE & WEIGHT
It was a semblance computer to take everywhere with a REAL keyboard and an autonomy that will allow an insomniac taking a night train between Paris and Berlin without having time to be bored. In standby, Wifi lit, the A10 takes more than two days (2j23h and again to 22%). In use, must be achieved 6-8 hours.
PURPOSE
The operating system is designed and minimalist, to surf, work on the text or watching movies when you're out and about. It has the advantage of allowing moreover also work _sans_ net connection, which makes it less dependent than Google ChromeBook.
A word processor is included, which can work on Word and Excel documents. Reading PDF worry or slowdown.
The Lenovo A10 is an improved tablet affordable price. I bought it in hopes of having a tool that would allow me to type faster than a tablet without a keyboard (I use a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 ", very convenient for reading and movies ... but much less for pure writing).
PERIPHERAL
- 2 USB ports, so compatibility with USB sticks
- 3.5mm jack combination mic and headphones (combined microphone / headphone jacks with 2 different are not compatible)
- Location micro SDHC for expanding the storage capacity
- No micro HDMI output - shame (that is a missed opportunity to combine with a projector ultraportable Q20 ultraportable Aiptek).
- Charger: the tip is in USB microphone. In other words, it can also charge the device with a mobile phone charger and vice versa. Very handy when you have multiple devices (3 in my case) to carry around and can be satisfied with a single charger.
- Nice keyboard, full-size keys, Non-Backlit
- Trackpad: can be adjusted at the options to use either traditional pointer (single finger, no two-finger scrolling) or in "tablet", which recognizes the trackpad gestures as if they were executed on the screen: scrolling, rotation, etc. are possible.
- Speakers at VERY low volume. His lower than that of a conventional tablet, even in a quiet environment, watch a movie or series would be impossible without headsets or so we tired to listen very carefully. Too bad. But who says ultraportable says generally nomadic life ... and in this framework, which does not carry his headphones to save his neighbors?
- Bluetooth present but not tested to date
BULK
- At startup (boot well, not just from sleep) there is a sound whatever you do, even if we had chosen to put the volume to zero before the extinction. Can be annoying if you bump into an environment where silence is required. Can probably be avoided by connecting headphones.
- Operating system not too altered by Lenovo, there is indeed a downstairs bar that does not disappear in full-screen mode when surfing ... but it's still livable. In full screen with VLC, the concern does not arise.
- Word Processing is subsequently Kingsoft Office. I did not know, but it looks like a lot of other preinstalled on various Android devices.
- The Google Play Store provides access to thousands of small practical applications, including mobile versions of Skype, VLC, Youtube, uTorrent, GoogleMaps, etc.
- No fan, so terribly silent.
- The brightness of the display panel is correct. It does not breaking records, but is still better than a computer 600 as the Lenovo IdeaPad U330 Touch (which in itself is not a feat). Work outside should be possible, provided not to be in full sun.
