The box set is minimalist: 2 2 Ethernet adapters and short cables. No CD but the brief installation guide is sufficiently clear to the configuration step.
To connect two network devices together, you only have to connect each on a PLC adapters via an Ethernet cable. The filtered taken on each adapter lets you connect a device, an extension cord or power strip eliminating electrical interference (harmful for the CPL). Recognition is automatic 2 CPL taken.
It is important to secure the Powerline network adapters coupling the two together. A single press for 2 seconds each will suffice: no password to enter. Without this step your entire network can be accessed and exploited by your neighbors (if encountered). To configure security can also use the Netgear Powerline setup program downloaded from the manufacturer's website.
Level flow is fine. Numericable My internet connection is as fast the 2 sides and identical to a connection without CPL (30Mbps and 1Mbps downhill mounted). Only ping fall slightly (42ms instead of 30ms).
However, I have noticed quite disappointing rates when transferring between my media server and a PC: 6,60Mo / s or 52,8Mbps (it is far from promised 500Mbps), but given the technical constraints between the 2 devices c ' rather normal (2 routers, poor electrical outlets of an old 1970 building and especially the limitation USB2 connectivity server ~ 30MB / s). I currently have 9 connected devices and the PLC is still working.
The price of this kit 2 PLC adapters is quite high but we must consider that buying wifi adapters or that of a long Ethernet cable from 20 to 30 meters would also be expensive. Due to its reliability and ease of configuration Netgear Powerline this pack is perfect, although the 2 Ethernet cables supplied are slightly too short if the unit is away from the main outlet.
