this is my first review and I venture an opinion on the Satellite Receiver Xoro HRS deliver 8500.
I have, therefore, acquired the unit for the bedroom as a second device. Attached is a Medion LCD TV (24 inches). The signals are transmitted via HDMI.
The packaging was without complaint. The Receiver was safe and well-protected. For delivery was the remote control incl. Batteries, and a German manual. Contrary to some opinions, I do not feel the guidance as to scarce or difficult to understand written. This point is, however, subjectively seen, because I'm not a tech. Laity understand and can follow instructions usually quick.
After unpacking and connecting the appliance successes automatic tuning, since no channels voreingespeichert. For this I had to tell the device, on which he sat to look. I did not feel this to be disturbing, especially since this was only a few clicks needed with the remote control. After a relatively short search time, all stations have been shown to me in a disorderly order. The sorting was done then manually using the remote control. Here I can, however, many other speakers do not connect. The manual sorting was very fast and also vonstatten The necessary keystrokes on the remote control were done quickly. Since I have other experiences (eg with my Topfield), I am of the opinion that this manual sorting is not complicated. However, it is a pity that a tuned station list can not be stored, so that, for example, after a firmware update re-sorting is necessary. Here would be the provider on course to expand the firmware accordingly.
From power on until the actual image display, it takes me 11 seconds measured .. This I feel as bad value. Other devices are considerably faster
After the first installation I enjoyed a very clear TV picture. The SD image is compared to the old satellite Reciever (Skymaster) better by far. The colors are brilliant, Bewegungsunschären minimized and overall the image more detailed. Also the noise, especially in very dark scenes has decreased significantly. HD images are sharp and really give pleasure. The test program from ASTRA or the public service broadcasters is impressive. Real broadcasts in HD look fabulous. How do the images on a larger LCD device, I sadly can not say.
The functions of the recievers meet my wishes. The EPG runs fast and so far no problems with me. Program changes within the EPG were trouble-free. Once took the preparation of the data a little longer (about 5 sec.), But then the current EPG data were loaded. The channel change is quite fast by equip. Compared with the old device very quickly, my Topfield is there but still nimble. So far, there were also no failures etc.
With the remote control, the supplier has unfortunately adopted by the otherwise very decent quality and functionality of the device. The keys are relatively small and cramped angeordnet.Nach an acclimatization period, to find your way, however, and can the typical functions 'blind' use. Range and angle problems I can not confirm, but have to say that the Receiver is relatively close (about 2,3m). Negative I noticed that when our unit volume change is performed only sporadically delayed. After clicking on the volume knob, it takes up to 5 seconds until the tone changes. While it is to get over but still annoying. Whether this is on the receiver or at a sluggish remote control, I can not say. From the 'feel' the remote device depends significantly behind.
The USB port has replaced my existing media disk. I can because I have a lot of MKV files play them easily. However I noticed when selecting MKV files that the selection to the start of the film about 5-10 sec. Pass (depending on file size). One circumstance I not feel as disturbing. Also playing files larger than 4GB size worked with me. As far as I know, the unit splits the file and play them one by one from. I could not notice any interruption in this case. Only a very short jerking was even noticeable, similar to the layer change in a DVD.
A recording I have not yet made with the device and can not say anything.
Initially, I found the positioning of the USB port on the front as unhappy (visually speaking). It was found, however, that the front mounting has considerable advantages. The handling of removable drives (USB flash drives, hard drives, etc.) is greatly facilitated. The cumbersome fiddling with rear USB ports has annoyed me hard already with other devices. Since I work with various USB media, it is for me therefore a clear advantage.
Another important positive point is the existing network switches, with which the device can be switched off completely. This is also easy to use, front mounted. Here the environmental awareness is clearly taken into account.
Conclusion:
The Satellite Receiver Xoro HRS 8500 receives from me a strong buy recommendation. Despite minor shortcomings in the field of remote I forgive 5 Stars. The few weaknesses justify my claims not to deduct a star, because the Receiver does exactly that, what to do. This in a compelling price for this material, functionality and image quality.
