Purchased replacement of a Philips radio (high quality) which was a bit too bulky for the bathroom or travel, this Sony radio, more compact and lightweight, purchased through feedback, fills my ears a sound clarity and a perfect understanding of the word. I will not comment on the quality of reception for I am 3 kms from the main transmitter in open site. There is a less expensive model that radio, but then you will provide the tone control, a powerful speaker, and a range of additional wave. That is the tone control (which boosts the treble) and quality of top most powerful speaker (300mW) I chose this model with a constantly renewed listening satisfaction. Note the presence of the frequency tuning red diode that is a useless gadget. The finish is perfect, the look very pleasant. Negative: Presence of a headphone jack that fate as the mono sound and does not work with most stereo headphones jack if the normally fully inserted (only one listener then functions making it necessary to slightly remove the jack ) ... for the price an effort could have been made on this point.
