NITECORE flashlight Ea41 Pioneer, NC Ea41 (equipment)

Customer Review

Hello There!

I was looking for a very good flashlight is very bright, yet portable and definitely AA batteries or AA rechargeable batteries (Eneloops) can absorb, because I had no desire to further x special chargers and battery formats and Eneloops anyway always for some Devices including a AA / AAA charger are available.

The predecessor EA4 with just one button / switch I already knew from a friend.
I found the control over it quite complicated and there just seemed a bit brighter Ea41, I looked into it a little more closely. Even the weakest mode with 1 Lumen liked the new Ea41 (W) better than the weakest 65-lumen mode of the predecessor EA4 what I personally really much too bright when I need the weakest mode ;-) (For details about the 2 buttons control all the way down at the end of the review!)

Since I still could not find a meaningful reports Ea41 and EA41W (Neutral White / warmer color temperature) in any forum, I ordered both and tested:

The Ea41 Amazon directly
NITECORE flashlight Ea41 Pioneer, NC Ea41

and EA41W,
NiteCore EA41W Neutral White - 960 lumens, 5 Leuchtsufen, 4 x AA mignon cell

I had also ordered on Amazon, but the MarketPlace dealer KTL Store came, of which I had already ordered some flashlights and was convinced by the excellent customer service. (One of the very few MarketPlace-shop where I order directly with the same good feeling as on Amazon. The information and support, the KTL Store delivered via its web shop, were also very handy during my research.)

Although the Ea41 Amazon still 960 lumens were specified, the 2015er version, in which the following is on the box came:

Ea41 2015 version (on the flashlight itself is Ea41)
1020 Lumens
376 m
35594 cd
CREE XM-L2 U2 LED

When EA41W from KTL-store amenities on the box:

Ea41 (on the flashlight itself is EA41W)
960 Lumens
315 m
25000 cd
CREE XM-L2 LED

To your misfortune I am not Taschenlampenphreak ;-) and only from the perspective of a photographer Kritschen speak:

In both flashlights I have white, put new, fully charged and been measured Eneloops. (During the test, for safety's sake batteries Flashlight reversed what had no effect!)

Opening angle in both the same. Could I test well in the fog / sleet. ;-)

Ea41: color temperature (on white photo cards are unlike laser printer paper not treated with bluish brighteners what the color temp changes, tested) not as cold / bluish as I expected.
Only at close range we see a slightly bluish, cold staining in the outer circle of light.

EA41W: much warmer, visible brownish / orange. Looks like a very very strong halogen bulb. Effective at close range at the same brightness level as compared to Ea41 slightly weaker, comes to my mind but from the warmer color temperature at which a the contrasts do not exist / notice so hard!

From the balcony (11th floor), dark environment:
Both shine in my opinion equally. When I return the reflectors of a car search me, this is so far away that the Ea41 they just take you to reflect that goes with the EA41W same.

The difference: Just hail / drizzling it easy. The beam / jet of cold Ea41 displayed at the same viewing angle viewed from the rear significantly higher rate than the warm EA41W. Personally, I attribute this to my subjective impression is also not back on brightness, only the different color temperature differences and the related ability contrast or contrast sensation!

I light on bushes / trees, does the W much plastic / more spatially, the Ea41 acts like a white wall, the one often reads in forums. The successive branches / trees act in the warm lamp (EA41W) spatial, in the cold Ea41 one sees more of a "white wall / level", as if everything was rather at the same level. I attribute this also to the higher amount of red back, even if not Dark-adapted eyes.

Have both synrchon alternating (one on, from then both at the same time on the power button, so that always the other on / proceeds) in the sky and on all sorts of illuminated, the absolute range seems to me both before the same.

At Amazon, there was at the EA41W far only an evaluation that was bad (1 Star) and as a headline "neutral white = yellow". (In the meantime, increased to 2 star!) ;-)

One with two lights in the room on a whitewashed wall, sees the Spot (Throw) of Ea41 white from the corona (Spill) around it very slightly bluish.

When EA41W the Spot (Throw) is visible warmer / yellow / reddish, the corona (Spill) around it is also warmer and more appealing for me personally.

Unfortunately, the only other flashlight with which I can still serve a tiny AAA ITP A3 EOS UPGRADED. Not the one that was last sold, which has a weaker weakest brightness mode, but a previous model!

This ITP me the cold bluish color temperature bothered very strong and I thought that would look exactly Ea41.

When I put all the flashlights in the weakest mode and so on a white card light (white coated woodchip wallpaper behaves actually equal) that all do a spot of about 4 cm in diameter, looks to me the color temp as follows:

ITP A3 EOS UPGRADED: Bluish / purple

Ea41: greenish

EA41W: brown / light orange

If one of more brightness mode falls a different color temperature of the spot (Throw) not as strong on, only in the surrounding corona (spill).

Test with NiteCore Rotfilter:
NiteCore red filter 40mm for EA4 / MH25 / P25

Ea41: color temperature more "orange" in comparison to the EA41W.

EA41W: "Red". (I like it better)

When EA41W with red filter I recognize at the same distance and brightness level (and Anstrahlwinkel) for the same object more contrasts than the Ea41 with red filter. (Before the test waits eye adaptation, the adaptation between not destroyed ....)

ADDENDUM:
Yesterday the "NiteCore" -Rotfilter of a friend who had ordered him directly in China, compared with my on my EA41W. Its filter is almost orange compared to my deep red. (At the same flashlight) We both enjoyed my red much better like it! The only additive if some wanted to order in China! Whether this was a series of scattering by another supplier or whether the China filter was fake, unfortunately can not currently say!

At a Glance:
The Ea41 is not nearly as cold / blue as I had expected. If I had only ordered this, I would keep it and be happy.

Now direct test my EA41W personally like better though and I'll return the Ea41.

If someone does something against "off-white / bright light / cold color temp." have, I personally would perhaps not necessarily the order EA41W because it is more "pretty warm"!

I run at night but walk with two, me is the color temperature of the light when I Ea41 in the field or on the grass, too cold / bluish. The grass looks almost gray, as the brown field. The EA41W much more natural, green grass, brown field, as in sunlight.

Perhaps one can summarize it as follows:
Who needs the flashlight commercially as Searchlight, is the Ea41 any better off. (Except for the eventual "white wall effects" that I described above!
Whoever walks with the lamp and wants to have natural colors of its environment, is perhaps happier with the EA41W! ;-)

To speak at the W version of "cool white", I personally, however, is problematic, since most people will probably keep the Ea41 version for more neutral when they light up when the first tests only on their white wallpaper / wall!

Hope to have helped, because so far found unfortunately nothing really Meaningful to both! ;-)

The 2-button control, I find definitely worlds more practical than the 1-button control of EA4 that I had borrowed some time ago from a friend!

What I think is interesting to note that the information on LED in both above-mentioned Amazon pages, which I bought, do not match the LED indications on the supplied boxes! ;-)

Have fun pondering which shall order it! ;-)

EDIT after a few weeks:

2-button control of the current Ea41 / EA41W:

There is an ON / OFF button and a mode button.
(ON / OFF button is closer to their own bodies, Mode button more towards lamp head)

One remains in the off state a second on the modes button, the flashlight in the brightest fashion goes on, no matter what other fashion had eventually turned off before! Very convenient.
(One is in a brightness mode and switches off on the power button, the lamp is immediately without delay after renewed pressure on power again in this mode!)

--------------------------------------------------
EA41W modes according to the manufacturer:

Turbo (960 Lumens) Running time approximately 1 hour 45 minutes
High (510 lumens) Running time approximately 2 hours 45 minutes
Med (120 lumens) Runtime approx: 12 hours a
Low (40 lumens) Runtime approx time: 30 hours
Micro (1 lumen) running time approximately 400 hours
--------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------
Ea41 modes according to the manufacturer:

Turbo (1020 lumens) Running time approximately 1 hour 45 minutes
High (580 lumens) Running time approximately 2 hours 45 minutes
Med (160 lumens) Runtime approx: 12 hours a
Low (50 lumens) Runtime approx time: 30 hours
Micro (1 lumen) running time approximately 400 hours
--------------------------------------------------

Both lamps can additionally following modes:
Strobe, SOS, Beacon and a blue flash of the control buttons (under the black rubber, which illuminates the rubber), which is, however, switched off.

Next in the 2-key operation:

If you hold the On / Off button for 1 second when the lamp is pressed, to get out in the weakest mode, no matter what was previously active. Very handy if you want to get out in 1-lumen mode and not "lasers" with night-adapted eyes, the eyes want. ;-)

When the lamp switch can be with the mode switch, which at the end is towards LED aperture through the switch 5 brightness modes.
When switching in between the power button off and on, you immediately comes out in previously off brightness mode.

Staying with the lamp switched on (regardless of the brightness) for about 2 seconds on the mode switch, it comes out in STROBE mode, which with max. Brightness expires. (Fast flashing, is not enough in the dark for a slow motion effect! ;-)) Will probably used in the military field in close combat for the targeted aperture of the enemy at night.
Hopefully none of us need! ;-) During the day you can order but make more noticeable in bright sunlight than with continuous strong light.

If a further 2 seconds on the mode button to get the Beacon mode with max. Brightness out. (Short flashes with about 2 seconds. Pause light)

More 2 seconds MODE lead in the SOS mode: 3 times briefly three times for three times short flash. (This one should play anywhere if you can be seen by others so as not to trigger an expensive mistake unjustified emergency!) ;-)

Is the lamp with normal light, no matter what mode and you stay 2 seconds on the power switch, the light goes out and the buttons are illuminated with an underlying blue LED flashing. (Easier to find the lamp / off switch in the dark)

If one switches then the lamp on power and back to normal over power from, the flashing of the switch is off.
So the switch flashing must be specifically activated, which I find very convenient.

When AA-battery / battery change the charging state of the batteries / rechargeable batteries is indicated by a blinking blue LED switch:

3 times flashing:> 50% charge level

2 blinks:
1 times flash: almost empty

Personally, I find this type of battery gauge better than its predecessor EA4 where once 5 volts were indicated by eg 5-flashes, followed by a short pause followed by number flashing decimal.
Here you stare forever on the switch and one decimal ... ;-)

Do not mention, I would like for the sake of completeness that the Ea41 (W) with batteries installed this in the long run (six months to a year) emptied because it has an electronic power switch, must flow through the continuous stream, so that one in the amenities and Benefits of this control comes. (Even when not switched Einschalterblinken!)

It thus has no current divisive "hard" on / off switch.
This store just as a note to the people who filled the lamp with batteries or rechargeable batteries for the coming apocalypse.
Lightweight unscrewing the back cover is not enough to interrupt the current flow!
(And the back cover is for beginners who want to close the lid once a disaster, because of two pins that have to show in the guide holes before the spin, not in the dark recommended. With light from a second torch etc. absolutely no problem.)

Personally, I could not find a better AA lamp in this price range after a very long search and retrieval.
The processing and light output is impeccable.

Scope of supply:

Ea41 (W) itself

Wrist strap that can be attached to the battery cover through a hole guide.

Instructions

Belt pouch for storage in very good quality. Belts must not be removed, belt loop can be opened via Velcro and place and close to the belt.

When EA41W from KTL Store 4 AA-brand batteries (Ansmann X-Power) were also included. In my not-Ea41 Amazon order.

Replacement rubber O-ring on the battery cover.
