Unfortunately, the title of the original edition does not like it so much as the German title I. Can. Not. Sleeping .. In the latter it is clear that during or after sleeping something happens, what has to be prevented. Before I go to sleep listening to my opinion not threatening enough. It could also be a bedtime story.
However, the cover of the film I like very issue. The strips, which run through the three faces that remind me of a facade that in a book about identity (sverlust) and trust plays a crucial role. Who is really what it seems to be?

Style
The book is divided into three sections: Today, The Journal of Christine Lucas, Today. The reader wakes up together with a confused Christine and tried together with you in the second section, in which the protagonist himself and the reader reads the book to put together their past. Despite many comments in the diary which refer to previous entries, the text due to the repetition does not affect long-winded, but realistic, as happens to every diary entry it is based, that the protagonist has read the previous entries. The author cuts here in the right places, so that the book reads very fluently.
By recurring expressions that occur in the course of the diary, the reader is swirled. As Christine I could not say who is to be trusted and was a little bit paranoid with her. The thriller has therefore fulfilled its task.

Protagonist
Christine wakes up every morning knowing without on where it is, who is the person next to her in bed, and above all without any knowledge of who she is. Times it feels like a young woman, even as a little girl, and once in the body according to their age. She has no idea of ​​what has happened in their lives. But she fights. You do not want to forget. This bite, but also dips its strength are represented authentically. Man with a fever with Christine, shares her suspicions and support their actions against the uncertainty. She is a very sympathetic character, I have gladly accompanied by the book.

Conclusion
The book captivated me from the first page to last. Believable characters and numerous twists accompany the search for the building blocks of life of Christine Lucas and refine the reading pleasure. There are a total of five out of five stars to me: Good idea, good structure, good writing style, good characters and at the end a satisfied reader.
