The Count of Monte Cristo, Volume 1 (Paperback)

Customer Review

Alexandre Dumas is a great writer and his book is a Doeuvre chef! Here we follow the life of Edmond Dantes, and valiant young man full of promise, hit by misfortune in his nineteenth year, because of the ignominy of a few. Fortunately he will report in (great escape) because the day before providence on him. Fourteen years later, he can accomplish his revenge while taking care of those he loves. The story is set in 1817 around in the second volume.

The first quarter of the book seemed a bit (too) easy to read, but I persevered and took me well because the suite is panting; he was then difficult to put the book down. The plot is well-crafted, subtle twists abound. The characters and their emotions are beautifully transcribed. It is a long novel and yet he suffers no length. What talent!

Usually I never reread the same book twice, but for this one I know I will, one day, an exception.
