Falco's most successful, not the best album

Falco 3 (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

This Anniversary Edition of Falco 3 "is a remastered re-release of Falco's most successful album, which was released in 1985. 25 years ago. Falco's third album is the most successful international album of a German artist at all, it came down to # 3 on the US Billboard Charts!

For Anniversary Edition:
The Anniversary Edition features bonus content compared with the previous CD edition:

- All songs were remastered
- The song It's All Over Now, Baby Blue "is finally in the correct version (4:41 minutes) without mastering errors of previous CD editions (5:08 minutes) before
- There is a remix / cover version of the song Jeanny "the British band Hurts
- (!) From the recording session anno 1985 originating Song Without You "in which Falco, both the music and the text and wrote with the band of Peter Maffay has been added, is in the raw demo version before
- There are four original Maxi versions from the 80s of which are never before released on CD:
- Rock Me Amadeus "(Extended Version) (7:07)
- "Vienna Calling" (tourist version) (7:36)
- "Men of the West" (Extended Version) (5:23)
- "Urban Tropical" (Extended Version) (7:26)
- The Deluxe 2CD version also offers even a DVD in the various stakeholders (Falco, Horst Bork who Bollands, Rudi Dolezal) about the making of the album and the accompanying video talk (with English / German subtitles)
- In addition, only in the Deluxe Edition, the comments of the Bollands to each song, the book excerpt from Horst Bork on the origin of Falco 3 "and the production of videos to find the DoRo guys
- The album will be released with the International Cover (Photo of Falco Rock Me Amadeus by "video) and not with the ugly red cover with lettering, which was published in the German-speaking countries

Which is a shame:

- The booklet provides no texts!
- The comments of Bollands are partly interesting, but not somehow ordered, some songs are commented twice, others not
- The DVD does not offer the original versions of the videos but only inferior New Edits
- The remix / cover version of Hurt looks unfinished, was supposed to create the Remixes not have much time - the decision that the verses are sung by the Hurts (in German!), But the refrain of Falco looks strange .. . A remix would have been better.
- That no more remixes and edits on the album are: it lacks the extended version of Jeanny "and Salieri version of Rock Me Amadeus" (these can be found, however, in full-length on the DVD because the DoRo guys have tinkered a video about this) , the single-Edits of Urban Tropical "or alternative mix of It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" (the higher than ever "published on The Best Of album had rounded the release
- Due to licensing problems had more interesting DVD extra content (eg concert on Town Hall Square 1985, or at the Salzburg Residence Square 1986 are deleted)
- In the booklet there are misplaced advertising for Hurts, the Bork-book and other Falco products (!)

For album itself:
Musically meant the change from Robert Ponger to the brothers Bolland a turn towards pompous produced rock, the melodic-funky pop music of the first two albums was cultivated to international standards corresponding Falco sound. So Falco's third album in my opinion less elegant and subtle than his two debut albums, Falco 3 is rather a trimmed on global Massentauglicheit and successful album. At the same time the producers change brought on a change in terms of the textual design with it: Falco had hitherto always written his own texts, were now at the same time of the Bollands with the musical ideas always also textual, usually very striking design proposals.

For all these reasons Falco 3 is clearly commercial and charts-compatible failed as Falco's previous albums: One can find clearly less acrimony, cynical or social criticism than to "solitary confinement", the lyrics are not as polished and refined as the "Junge Roemer" and also the music itself is much more geared towards the mass taste. Nevertheless or exactly why is Falco's third album to be successful. On Falco 3 cooperation between Falco and Bollands still works excellently: in addition to the glorious single Rock Me Amadeus "which (among other things, number 1 in the US, UK and Japan!), Falco and also Austria situate on the pop world map of 1980 Falco 3 the brisk Vienna Calling "and the scandalous Jeanny" offers further Falco classics that deserve to be heard and off various Falco best of albums.

Falco has the significance of his third album always appreciated very sober, for him it was not his best album, he was, however, well aware that he would be a one hit wonder remained and not the world-famous superstar become without this album, which he from 1985 was for a time. Falco 3 sounds today precisely because of its very time in its founding period arrested qualities and production compared with the two previous albums, the sound still more modern, obsolete, but just this property is that this album is also a quarter-century later become a cult album makes. It remains an unequaled popular for a German artist album, a glorioses yuppie Manifesto hedonistic 1980s until today.

After Falco 3 Falco published during his lifetime 4 more albums, three of them. With the Bollands, but none of these subsequent albums could surpass the success or even repeat the Falco's third album had international Although Falco had in his home country and also in the German-speaking countries up to and after his death numerous hits, but internationally Falco 3 was the zenith of Falco's musical successes.

This Anniversary Edition offers the 10 songs in brilliant remastered sound and bonus material with much more than they were in the Anniversary Edition of solitary confinement "was the case: all the bonus songs have been not yet been published or never were in CD Quality before. For fans probably would have been possible (see points above) but overall this is a worthy re-release of a historic album.
