I'm not going to complain too much as I bought this book second hand and very cheaply, but if you are expecting some background information about the Protagonists, you will be disappointed. We find out nothing about why Brian is the way he is, there is no character development or even much characterization at all, Brian's home life is barely touched upon and the only amusing anecdote is Brian's very Brief Encounter with his gym teacher. Instead we have a lot of marginal characters who play no part in the series and a tedious prom night plotline. I read it in one and a half hours while doing my household chores, it made them slightly less irksome but quite frankly, if this book had a little less content it would be blank pages. A pity. There's a lot of fan fiction on the Internet for free, indeed makes a far better job of filling in the blanks of Brian and Michael's past.
