The Samsung WB2000 I bought for eternal comparisons with other cameras in the compact and super compact class. I was looking for a camera that is small enough to easily take it (traveling), but on the other hand offers an appealing image quality. Lange was the Canon S90 favorite because it has a larger than average sensor in its class (1 / 1.7 ''). Thereby, the image quality in terms of color noise at higher ISO's and a more natural color reproduction is visibly better than other cameras. However, startled me from the high price. And I also loss of sharpness is noticed towards the edge in many test pictures, which clouds the otherwise good impression. Also the view expressed by many users lack the screenless rotary wheel on the back and the driving out lightning in the place where you normally lays his left index finger bothered me as well as the otherwise not so successful ergonomics of the camera (no rubberized handle, only expensive available through third-party ). As was the WB2000 on the market recently then I remembered positively the larger but still moderate 5x zoom and the possibility to store pictures in RAW format (Surprising, however, the huge file size of the RAW files of approximately 23-24 MB Canon! Here at a well-10MP resolution files with a size of only about 12MB). The speed of the camera has been another reason to buy. The shutter speed is not as critical, but the fast continuous shooting (10Bilder / sec) and the thoughtful pre-capture function. For the Samsung I chose because of the good test results among others chip.de. However, I have the good test result slightly into perspective because even at ISO200 already a slight color noise occurs in white areas and dark areas, which again increases noticeably at ISO400. Here one notices clearly impractical assessment of some test magazines. It has little meaning an excellent illuminated motif with high sensitivity receive, which could be easily taken with ISO80! The color noise is considerably lower with good illumination. In contrast, you will choose in practice high ISO's only in low light conditions. Then occurs significantly more noise. From ISO800 Camera software then makes considerable interference with the color intensity. The ISO 3200 setting 1600und are for emergency still ok. Taking photos with such extreme settings in RAW on, you have the opportunity later extract a lot of image detail and color. Due to the effective image stabilizer and the bright lens at wide angle (f = 2.4), photos can be still even record without shaking with a 1/4 sec shutter speed. Finally I can say that the camera did not quite meet my expectations in image quality, but other qualities (speed, Panorama function, adequate zoom range, HD video, super slow motion video, high-resolution display with high contrast) and a reasonable value for money no bad buy was.
