After I was able to test the alternative of Panasonic / Leica, I ordered this lens - Here is my review:
Processing
=======
After unpacking the keeping a featherlight macro lens of 60mm focal length (= 120mm mm film equivalent) in his hands. Striking is the clearly visible distance staggering, and a note "splash proof" - splashproof directly on the lens. The bayonet is made of metal and was hastily coupled with my M1.
For true macro photography (as the pictures attached to this review) is equal to a tip: left on the lens can be the distance range in different steps limit. Standard is "0.19 m-infinity". This setting is not recommended for first truly macro attempts since the lens then takes a long time to focus at close range. The second option is "0.19 m-4m" and for macros so much more suitable. The focus is a result of this limitation and noticeably faster in practice a distance of 4m is rarely still "macro", so that you have sufficient room for maneuver in the vicinity. Last option is "4m infinity" and therefore more suitable for Photography at appropriate intervals.
Image Quality
=======
The picture quality is - as so often in good MFT lenses from Olympus - beyond any doubt. The sharpness is sitting on the stain and the picture is rich in contrast, detail and high resolution, as one may expect from a good macro lens. The Bokeh is very creamy with circular, soft lights in the background even with F4. All in all, I was surprised at how much image quality, this lens.
Lens hood
===========
And again this bad habit to have to buy selbige for good money. As with the new 40-150mm 1: 2.8 telephoto lens is installed a well-designed technology. Once you have placed the lens hood on the lens, you can set the aperture to the lens to slide up (standby) or push down (transport mode), without having to remove the cover from the lens. This works great in practice, and reconciled a little with the extra cost of the acquisition.
Conclusion
===
For 540 euros (+55 euros for the Lens Hood LH-49), you get a macro lens in an acceptable quality of workmanship. It is splash-proof and has a really good picture quality. Only the expensive (albeit functionally well thought out) Lens hood and plastics processing are at fault. In the price range I had an all-metal lens in similar quality as the current ProSeries expected. Nevertheless 5 stars the magnificent picture quality full justice.
