The method described in the book and the CDs (CDs do not include the entire text of the book, but concentrate on the essentials) has changed the lives of more than one person, in Anglo-Saxon countries in particular, where worship is doomed to the method that is often abbreviated GTD for "Getting things done" which is the English title, which I would translate rather: "Making things done" or "Making things are made. "
In recent years I have had the opportunity to get training in project management, time management and content of this book.
For me these three themes really deserve attention and are very complementary.
This audio book is a little crossroads of time management and project management, but David Allen (not to be confused with the musician of the same name) has a personal approach and method that emphasizes called "the first action". In the book, at one point he said something like:
You probably have a project that is important to you and which may resist a little, perhaps for a long time ... think about it now. At the time of reading, I remember that I put the book and I was lent me the game, and I had actually considered something that was close to my heart, a project that I had hardly move ...
Then taking the book, I read something that said a roughly: Now consider this: What is the first action to do to move this project? Think.
For me it was a revelation. My project was a bit jammed, had found a breakthrough possible.
By listening to this audio book, it will unfortunately be difficult to have the same experience as you listen, and you do not press the button "pause" at the crucial moment, and it is unfortunately not suggested to do so (we do can not "put the book").
This theme of "the first useful action to advance something" is a cornerstone of the book, but it's not just that.
This book also talks to set up a mode of own organization to be able to keep the mind free.
It changed my life, although I confess I have not (yet) really managed to implement everything he advocates.
So I can only recommend it warmly, even though I know it will not suit everyone.
