Finally a device that does what it is supposed

The original question was: "Do I want a Linux-receiver, or a normal receiver". After much back and forth, it was the ET4000. With the standard software of the receiver is good, but compared to other products (Technisat) it can relatively little. Only after installing another firmware ET4000 shows its full potential. It starts with the web interface (operation and programming via the PC), passes's streaming to PC (you can see the image data over the network to your PC to stream) to the Auto Timer (receiver automatically searches the EPG by keyword from and programmed the program independently).

Likewise was' there are no problems, despite the absence of CI / CI + slot to bring an ORF card up and running. Card in, 5min waiting and already I could see ORF. I do not want to miss the functionality of a Linux-receiver, but it is also clear that these devices are not for the average consumer, who simply want a device that works. If you immerse yourself but on one, you get for ~ 160 a device that collected by the functionality that is no problem, the top echelon of the normal receiver.

Neither one is annoyed by limitations of the content industry. Recording indefinitely, unlimited Timeshift, ease of access to recorded programs and fast-forward of recorded advertising is no problem. But this should also be clear that we here possibly violates the Terms of PayTV provider.
