It comes in a stable and good packaging and with plenty of accessories:
1 USB cable for connection to the computer
1 holder with suction cup
1 holder with adhesive surface
1 power cable with car port
1 CD with evaluation software
1 instruction booklet
The camera is very easy and down to the font and the LED lamp front completely black. Top right are two buttons and the left and right of the screen three. The operation of these buttons opens up very quickly and is structured logically. The screen has the format 16: 9 and you can see very well what is recorded there.
The camera is made entirely of plastic and the buttons are a bit too easy, so you have been accidental activation of the camera when we pass them in the wrong place, or presses a button, which you did not want to press.
The microSD card can be only with a tool, put in as a table knife. With your fingers you do not get them in. When they sit out there all, but it is also firmly and securely behind a flap.
The font and the LEDs on the front I taped with black tape, because they are too flashy and I do not need the lights.
The suction cup holder holds very well on really smooth surfaces. However, the need to really be very smooth. Even small bumps cause by falling after about one minute. But if one has a really smooth surface, he keeps safe, even in bright sunlight.
The camera can, after some practice, easily and quickly push on the holder and resolve of this again. In the beginning the going a bit tough, but with the time you get out the bow. I have no problems with it anyway.
The power cable in the car is long enough that you can lead from the center console to the headliner there in large arches behind the various panels.
When the camera is powered, it starts recording and terminates with a short follow-up, when the power is terminated. In the camera there is a small battery that provides power for a few minutes in order to ensure, among others, this lag.
The recordings are stored in the QuickTime format (.mov file). The images are clear and sharp and Trademark distance are from about 5 feet recognizable. In rapidly moving past the car is only sometimes possible, but on the whole, the sharpness is very good. This camera is in this regard, the best I had so far.
The date and time will bring the camera from the GPS, which I find extremely useful, because you have never set the date and time, but only the time zone. A fine thing.
Operation menu of the camera is available in the following languages:
- Chinese
- English
- French
- German
- Spanish
- Italian
- Portuguese
- Polish
- Czech
- Greek
- Norwegian
It can be adjusted abundant parameters: resolution, exposure compensation, white balance, voice memo, date, duration of a recording block, G-sensor (more on this below), motion detection, license plate, fatigue warning, GPS usage, speedometer, speed alarm, time zone, password, units, image rotation, date and time, frame rate, LED lights, key tones, screensavers, television encoding and acceleration display (= speed display).
I'm going to mention only a few of them. The most important settings are the resolution of 1080x720 pixels at 30 fps, the recording in blocks of 2, 3 or 5 minutes and the display of key data in the recording for me.
Recordings are, as long as you do not shut down, divided into blocks of fixed duration. If the SD card is full, the oldest recordings are deleted to make way for the new. This works fine. The individual receiving blocks overlap in time by a few hundredths of a second, so that there is no gap in the recordings.
One can use the camera to take pictures and even with a resolution up to 10 megapixels, even though the sensor has only 3 megapixels. I have not tried this feature. It would make sense anyway photographs to 3 MP.
By default, the date, time and geographical position are displayed in the recording. Anyone who wants can show if a number plate and the driving speed.
The function "Gsensor" the menu does not open up one and is not explained in the manual. In the menu you can for it "from", "low", "medium" and "high" to adjust. Default is "medium". I found out by accident, what that means and the support has confirmed it for me. The camera has an undocumented feature, so that it protects shots against overwriting when acceleration above a certain value occurs. The point is that in an accident, the shoot at a high acceleration retained (= accident) and are not accidentally overwritten. And exactly this threshold can be adjusted with this menu option. At low threshold already recordings normal rides against overwriting be protected, which is rather annoying. With a high threshold, the acceleration must be already significantly larger in order to trigger the overwrite protection.
The evaluation (Driving Recorder Player of Archlink) can be installed on the PC, then shows speed, orientation and acceleration to. The distance traveled and position they can show on Google Maps. She's fine, but I find the RegistratorViewer better because he has a lot more possibilities for analysis and display, and can evaluate the MOV files of the camera well.
During my tests, I have three times the support of the company DoD contacted via email and am thrilled by the. I always got a proper, friendly and helpful response within one working day. As other manufacturers could learn a lesson. However, the support from the manufacturer only in English is available, because it sits in Taiwan.
All in all I am happy with the camera. It has many configuration options, making excellent recordings and is highly customizable. The support is top notch and a real bonus, though only in English. Like all Dashcams it is in my opinion too expensive for even, but is priced on par with its competitors.
