Negative I can really notice essentially only in the very limited facilities. While the device is supplied with all necessary cables, the device lacks but especially the resume function when switching off the device and a remaining time display and an extensive video EQ. In addition, is disturbing that the digital output (coaxial) is not muted when changing to the next capital or the layer change. This leads each time to a loud crackling over the loudspeaker transmits the surround system. Lt. telephone information of Toshiba hotline to the problem possibly solved with the next firmware update. Let's see.
For fan: The fan is already clearly hear. The sound is, however, at least to my mind, not unpleasant. Since the HD-DVD players are more likely to compare the principle with a PC as a normal player (particular operating system, RAM performance CPU) and the device itself with fan is quite warm, is probably not prevent the noise .... especially I have while watching a DVD also regularly the tone ;-) ..
My résumé:
Positives:
- Absolute top image, especially in normal DVDs
- Very good digital sound
- Quality workmanship and appearance
- Firmware update via the built-in network card
- Great, backlit and high-quality remote control
Negatives:
- But their design probably unavoidable fan
- Low equipment regarding device features
- No muting the digital output eg when changing chapters
Supplement (3.12.2007): after a firmware update to version 2.7, the player can now also the 24p playback, it is the digital audio via HDMI in from Bitstream and the noise when track skipping or changing the layer are also gone. If possible, I would now give 6 stars, absolutely top.
