Fisheye?

One thing first; it is not a lens for "all days". I use it on an EOS 5D II and am very satisfied. It is possible to achieve great effects by the barrel distortion of the image; as well as a super wide-angle lens, for example, for landscapes or indoor spaces of the lens is a class of its own. It has great imaging performance and a very good edge definition. The design also gives no cause for criticism; the housing with metal bayonet is stable, the lens hood (low function) is firmly mounted. Lensflares (flare) by scattered light are incidentally surprisingly low.

Due to the curved front lens no protective filter can be screwed; therefore careful when transporting! I can attest to the fact described many times that of the existing metal front lens cap is not particularly tight on the lens. If the unwanted dissolves in a pocket, scratches are inevitable on the front lens. Therefore, I can only recommend the tip that is best holding the cover by tightening a rubber ring between the front and back cover and additionally put a good piece in a carrying bag (of course, not part of the supplied accessories ...).

The autofocus motor is no longer up to date (no USM, therefore a little louder and more slowly); the design of the lens is from the year 1987. This makes the use hardly a role, as is due to the small focal length of the adjustment range between 20 cm at close range and infinity relatively low.

The imaging performance of 180 ° refers to the screen diagonal. Who is a "whole fish eye" with 180 ° in all directions (horizontal, diagonal, vertical ...) investigated should look at the well-known third-party for Canon-compatible lenses. According to the picture output there is therefore also on full frame cameras no black borders on the pictures, but - as usual - rectangular images.
