For beginners and adventurous

In addition to the kit lens of the EOS 600D and a 70-300 mm telephoto now had sometimes ago a lens with a fixed focal length. We have all heard the claims: well it should be, but as low as possible. This lens is light strongly, the glasses are processed properly, colors and sharpness are also okay and all at an affordable price. That the housing and the bayonet connection are made of plastic, does not bother me personally, but it is all the easier.

With my first attempts I also arrive already vivid shots: with large aperture (2.8 1.8) sharp flowers against a beautifully blurred background; the bokeh falling in such situations because this class of disturbing due to the optical design effects in the form of blurred pentagons as they were objected to here more often, not really. As with any lens it all depends also here on the field of application and the individual design wishes. Negative struck me in the trials of the somewhat sluggish autofocus. Later I tried at a fountain, specifically here the dripping water from above. With a low shutter speed 1/2000 and under different aperture sizes also come here very nice shots, the rippling water was frozen and ready to drop relatively sharply. However, to me the autofocus fell to negative even here, the spat in this situation, so many times back and forth until he turned a focus point found.

In all tests, I also produced a series of unusable images. In digital photography, which is not so terribly bad, because the pictures costs nothing except time to sort and delete but it is annoying anyway. The autofocus can be here but to be desired and manual focusing is not for everyone, it requires patience and a good eye. The live view mode can be helpful by increasing the image on the screen to focus and orients it. For spontaneous recordings and snapshots, it is therefore not suitable.

Recommended for beginners and adventurous

I do not recommend this lens to beginners because of the low price. I think with this lens you learn photographing more. A subject one can not simply herzoomen as you want, you have to go move to move towards the subject or away from it, the camera in the correct position, etc. In addition, provide the luminous intensity and the large aperture more opportunities to experiment with light and depth of field. With a little practice and the right focus you can shoot with it really good photos. I am neither beginners nor professional, just someone who likes photographing with this lens and its fun. A star I subtract because the described problems with the Auto Focus and the overall processing.
