I have recently reactivated my nearly 30-year-old stereo that still stands for lack of space at my parents. When I hung up the phone after several repairs (bass beading, defective power transistors) full of expectations Chuck Mangione's "Children of Sanchez" my beautiful Kenwood KD-990 turntable, the big disappointment came: heavily distorted, tip heights. The Kenwood is also equipped with a nearly 30-year-old Spitzentonabnehmer AKG P8 Supernova VDH II, and its hardened rubber damping of the needle insertion caused the distortion. A replacement needle is no longer available, and the quality of variously offered, very expensive repairs is very controversial. Transitional I bought me this as a "green poison" designated AT-95E in order to hear even a few plates can, until I have decided on purchasing a superior to my Kenwood matching pickup. Such now costs several hundred euros.
Conclusion: A little tip heights, and no grandiose space representation. But overall, great sound, absolutely listenable. Sure sounds like the Goldring 1042, which I now get from a friend on my right high-ended investment significantly better. Silky smooth highs, great stage, better bass (although it harminisiert theoretically not so great with the moderate tone arm of the Kenwood). This costs but also 15 times as much!
At a price under 25 you experienced with the green poison, no big surprise, it is good for music enjoyment and instead quite likely Höransprüchen normal, especially on less high-ended systems that satisfy fully.
