But it is not so that only this adapter transmits sound, basically all can. It's just a matter of sound settings in Mac and that's the selling point for this connector: the manufacturer packs a very small piece of paper to rest on which he explains how it works.
I'll let the "secret" short times for all who already have a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but that get no sound on the TV:
1. Open System Preferences (System Preferences)
2. Open Sound (Sound)
3. On the tab (Output)
4. with connected (!!) adapter and HDMI cable now the speakers appear from the device in which the HDMI cable is plugged in. Simply select this loudspeaker transmits (only mark) and you're done :)

Update to a good 1.5 years and moderate use:
+ The adapter still works flawlessly
+ There are no signs of fatigue
- Sometimes the Macbook is confused between the speakers in the Macbook and those of TV, especially when it goes into sleep mode with inserted adapter, and then wakes up. Often the sound is coming back from Macbook instead of TV. For me there always helps everything to close, and then out adapter adapter reopen pure and the film anew.
