In the group of multifunction devices with fax and network it's pretty much the only model with color laser printing. Competitors are all ink devices like the HP OfficeJet Pro series or Brother DCP series. Alternatively, more than twice as expensive. Gratifying is the Epson that it is very small for a color laser, felt almost smaller than a current HP.
What Epson So auzeichnet is clear. Crisp and Cover your / waterproof document printing. Photo printing can HP on appropriate paper certainly a bit better. So As to the pure printing, recommendation for all the more print documents. For important documents Laser printing is obligatory anyway.
Why many rate also bad, is obvious. It's the software that's not so easy to take for each. Although this is first installed easily, even over the network, the printer is found immediately (DHCP work for me the way problems), but set up scanning is already rather for network professionals. Here Epson overwhelmed clearly the normal user, even if a thorough instruction beiligt. The scan runs on an SMB share, user name and password for the shared folder must be stored once in the printer that runs on the Address Book Editor from Epson. HP and Brother have here packages that simply work fully automatically. You can scan in HP immediately and make 1000 devices settings via the computer. Also featured at the HP is much higher, several image processing and management programs, text recognition, online Patronennachbestellung .... if you are lucky enough that the HP software also works. Since I set up many printers professionally, I've got very good overview.
Here Epson comes with a completely different approach. The software is downright spartan. It is really nothing to what additional or individuals would somehow practically. The software erinnernt rather to the business products from Kyocera. For this you can but if you are technically fit and the establishment creates perfect scan via network. Two clicks on the device and the finished PDF file is located in the predefined folder on the computer or NAS. No need for software. Network admins will love the printer. To bring this feature with HP to run, can wear out nervous. At Epson, it is however, the only option on the network to scan and works reliably.
+ Small
+ Laser printing for clean documents
+ Lean software that does not shoot down the computer
+ Scans directly to a network folder
+ ADF tray and duplex printing (manual)
-Softwareumfang Low
-for network setup an admin should be available
Conclusion: The printer is not on the durschnittlichen private citizen, when at home, then for geeks who understand what it and want it. For commercial use, the printer is very interesting. No large software package that slows the computer - if you optmimal anyway works with existing professional sofware. Reliable Networking features, once established. Priced unique in the segment.
Point deduction's because I would have liked to seen an OCR software and scan over the network via TWAIN implementation is not possible, what would every now and then sometimes interesting (direct scan in Photoshop or similar)
