I chose The Reality Dysfunction on a whim. The book was on occasion, in a Parisian store that makes books in VO, and the pavement attracted me, you know, these big, heavy books one wonders what they are made and what they contain? I got dipped cautiously, it was the first SF I read in VO, I was more used to the world of medieval / fantasy. As with all Hamilton, one must first understand the world, but fortunately, the protagonist arrives quickly, and is committed to him and to his world, a sort of semi-conscious Orbitable Station, which is a platform pure starting archaeological excavations by scavengers, mercenaries who sell their finds. There are strange in the beginning of this book, an extinct alien civilization, and danger for the hero. One begins the game. Then, Hamiltonian as hell, the book takes us to other worlds, we must also understand, and characters galore, but little by little, the puzzle takes shape, and suddenly, it is still the middle of the first block, a mystical event occurs, it is surprising, it does not understand, or are afraid to understand ... and it starts in earnest! The story is enjoyable, consistent, terrible, gasping, over 3000 pages for 3 volumes two months of intense reading, which is wrung out, orphaned, fortunately, you can engage on Pandora's Star, after a period of convalescence, and after reading my review of that other book to give you courage! Do not hesitate, this trilogy is a gem!
