Customer Review

When switching from Panasonic, I try to approach open mind to the Sony. After a long drying Think I wanted to treat ourselves and give another brand a chance some games.

Unwrapped:

Yesterday the Sony received and unpacked. My first impressions are still somewhat mixed. The packaging looks quite unkind and uninspired - in this price range a bit unusual. First come to mind the "manuals" and hands. Countless Spachversionen but content shamefully poor.

Then she lies there - the CX900. Had indeed expected a certain size but if it is then in front of a one has to swallow already. And then the weight. That's a different league. She works by naturally high but one thing is clear - at long shots is a film from the hand difficult. Something sober is the visual appearance. Does not look like a new high-quality camera. Although they are almost all black, but there are nicer and more elegant implementations. On closer inspection, one but already recognizes a high processing quality. Only the hinge of the LCD screen is much too wobbly. Something better.

The LCD screen is well resolved and well even in sunlight still visible. The touch function could be more sensitive. The menu does not convince me - is not particularly intuitive and the buttons partly so tiny that you very easily slips away.

In other supplied to a (very cheap-looking) remote control and a power supply instead of a separate charging station for the room (of course, far too small) battery.

.... Much to my first impressions - this weekend will be filmed and then I share out my other experiences at the moment.

Update 15 June:

Now I've done first film experience and would like to report. At the changeover during the operation, I have to get used even more - have been ready certainly still not all the optimal settings. Therefore, a lot of my first experiences are still based on a variety of automatic settings. On the positive side, I noticed that the colors are still reproduced very neutral and less tired than my Panasonic. I thought that was first pleasant - but here it decides rather personal taste. The sharpness I found convincing, but but I have no "aha" effect observed. Something else is the opportunity to work with the depth of field. This opens up new dimensions already that I know so far only by the DSLR. At the moment I have to say though, that I have not really the beating argument had found in favor of the CX900 compared to another consumer cam in combination with a DSLR for a normal Full HD production. Next, I'm going to increasingly low light situations to try and report accordingly ....

I have now partly filled with the firmware version 3.0. That was no problem. But am disappointed that has not become faster the widely criticized slow autofocus (though this is sold in the firmware so). Since Sony has really urgently continue working on it, otherwise there is a risk that the really good camera is associated only with this perennial problem. Something I noticed with this new firmware: now the extensive settings can no longer show permanently on display, but they hide themselves relatively quickly again automatically. This can be, unfortunately, in the settings not correct. What should I do not understand. My tip for the developer: Raises the autofocus problem and let the fingers of the things that no one has complained.
