So why the Fuji X system? Very clear answer is the size and weight of the equipment. In many of my travels, I have to change little luggage and usually no time lenses. The climate (tropical) and the local conditions do not permit time-consuming selection of the equipment. Nevertheless, I need a rapidly deployable camera, which is one way or another snapshot sometimes even made out of the car (image stabilizer) and the light conditions are also very changeable (shadow!).
I have a Canon - took camera (1DX or 1D Mark IV), I use the 28-300, I have two cameras in use, I use the EF 16-35 / 2.8 L and 2.8 L IS II 70-200 in. all respects great, but it is heavy and bulky combinations. Not to mention I would leave that with two cameras always on SunSniper belt and in a think tank - is transported holster. I think you have a good idea as I packed "go am. With regard to the quality of the images and the technique I have no reason to complain!
To reduce this load luggage clearly, I'm on the mirrorless Fujifilm X - pushed system, I need always also a viewfinder in the camera out of the habit out and do not work like a display.
I started with the XT-1 and the lens XF 18-135 F3.5-5.6 (mm film equivalent: 27-203mm), now I have the X-Pro 1 (The current price of the housing makes the camera easy attractive. ) and the lenses XF 10-24 F4 (mm film equivalent: 15-36mm) and the XF 50-140 mm F2.8 (small format equivalent: 75 - 210mm). This equipment is therefore of the zoom - focal lengths comparable to the Canon - equipment, which I would like to see a stronger light wide-angle zoom.
But now to the concrete experiences:
Positives:
* Size and weight of the equipment: Even with a carriage of two cameras have been a considerable reduction in weight and volume. (The XT-1 is supported by a SunSniper belt, the X-Pro 1 in a SubUrbanDisguise. 5 - pocket of tinktank in which the replacement batteries have space)
* Even if both cameras (XT-1 and X-Pro 1) really good lie only with an additional handle and the additional battery grip in his hand, the handling in both cases is optimally despite significantly smaller bodies with no restrictions.
* The menu is simple and understandable, the essential functions can be on the Q-key to select quickly and beyond, you can assign each of some keys on both cameras.
* The manual intervention in the automatic mode for individually adjusting the aperture, shutter speed, ISO or up / Fade Out is quick and uncomplicated. My own perception is that there even is easier than with Canon. Precisely what motivated increasingly also individually adjust the value.
* The electronic viewfinder gives you a good first impression of the photographed image, change the settings can be quasi followed in real time in the viewfinder.
* The quality of the images is great and I can firmly-set virtually no difference to Canon.
* In low light can make up to ISO 1,600 usable images that capture the lighting conditions beautifully and realistically.
* Automatic adjustment of exposure and ISO - series is very easy and is solved in relation to Canon easier in my opinion.
* The XT-1, a small compact flash is included, the / small camera bag fits in every pocket and in low light conditions (shade!) The image well exposed.
* With two cameras a discreet work is possible. This can be explained not only by the size of the equipment, I did not this flashy bright L - (Who has just invented this color self Nikon can this better.) Lenses from Canon, bring the one always the same and the not always desirable attention ,
* Between switching on and ready for operation only takes a few seconds.
* The price for both Fuji - cameras is compared to the two Canon - devices much more attractive because you get almost the same performance compared to a quarter of the price. In the X-Pro 1, the current price level is in my view a bargain for a great camera. It's a matter of taste whether you prefer the XT-1 is in silver and it currently EUR 200, - would pay more, but after the Firmware - Update December 2014, there is technically no differences.
Negatives:
* The electronic viewfinder is in high incidence of sunlight almost useless and you have to then have to accept the second hand to cover. This takes time and sometimes the spontaneity of a good image.
* The battery life or the quality of the batteries can not keep up with those of Canon. 2 - 3 Replacement - Batteries are required for an all-day use.
* The XT-1 changing the batteries in the camera when screwed battery grip is only possible when unscrewing the handle also. Also, one should check the screw connection of the battery handle regularly.
* Despite Log - button, the battery grip opens at the XT-1 if it is freely suspended on SunSniper belt. The battery can not fall out, but this does not satisfy the demands on a professional camera. At Canon, the closures are secured better light years.
* The dial for the high and low beam is not locked with two cameras (why not?) And adjusted easily. Taking the camera out of his pocket, the setting should always check immediately and correct again. This is Canon also achieved better.
* A similar problem is the adjustment of the aperture. Also in this ring there is a risk of an adjustment if the camera SunSniper depends belt.
* Autofocus is operating under normal lighting conditions and fast, but focused in low light very (X-Pro 1) or somewhat (XT-1) slowly.
* The select individual autofocus - Fields is at Canon simply faster.
* The 4 control buttons on the XT-1 can not always be easily and quickly press and are a bit too small for my apparently too thick fingers. The keys are sunk very deep and have a poor feel. The Canon - turning wheel "is simply handy.
* The sequence mode is noticeably slower than Canon. (I rarely need this function, however, and does it make a difference whether ambitious amateur are for 6 or 8 or 12 frames per second?)
* The white balance for fluorescent light is for my perception simply failed or works in automatic mode better.
* The covers against moisture are subjectively regarded not as confidence-inspiring as Canon.
* Both cameras can record only one memory card.
Conclusion:
Although in many forums of farewell to the SLR already - cameras is mentioned, I use whenever possible nor my Canon - Equipment. But the two small "Fuji -. Cameras have it done to me and they are highly valued companion on my travels, when improved viewfinder and small details during processing nor, I could to change perhaps completely make I give full marks because. the cameras serve their purpose and also priced lower than the Canon cameras, but I submit that many small things the perceived quality of a Canon - camera missing.
