First of all kudos to Kingston that * SPECIAL * Information about reading and writing rate can be made, and these are also printed on the packaging, namely writing 5 MB / s read and 10 MB / s. Moreover, these values are not exaggerated, but more conservative (more on that later). Unfortunately, such information is an exception. Most manufacturers give no concrete values, but bland sponge terms like "ultra-fast" or "High Speed". Sometimes even a specified speed, without an indication of whether this is the writing or reading speed (of course, one can assume that it's the latter, because when writing each stick is slower). I personally only buy storage media, where the speed is specified. This strategy saved me probably facing a lot of cheap junk. That it why does not have to be necessarily expensive, proves this USB flash drive from Kingston: 32 GB for 43 Euro can only be described as a bargain.
On the newly acquired Stick any Windows software was pre-installed, I do not need (do not have Windows, and before anyone asks, no, no and no MacOS Linux), and I have therefore deleted first. On the then empty stick I first made a few speed tests. Result: Write between 15 and 18 MB / s read and 23 MB / s, both at purely sequential access. That was to my surprise, well above the manufacturer's specifications (5 MB / s and 10 MB / s). One possible explanation would be that I have written on a few 100 MB, and that of the embroidery with an increasing level might be slower because of the flash controller then gets to do more because of the wear leveling. But that's just speculation. So far I am very happy with the speed in any case.
Among the other characteristics: The case is compact and has actually just the right size. Despite plastic it appears sufficiently stable to be (as I have already experienced quite different things). The activity LED is clearly visible. The housing color (violet) is not really my thing, but I do not attach such great aesthetic value, if the function is true. After all, it is not entirely wrong, that you can distinguish the capacity classes at first glance by the color, which may be useful if a handful of sticks herumpurzeln in a drawer or in the notebook case.
We come to the only negative point I have: The "rotary cap". This is obviously a purely optical gimmick without function. It is neither a cap (it does not close the USB connector, that dust can penetrate unhindered), nor is it a protective cap, because it does not protect the male, on the contrary, when the opening and closing is not to degenerate into tedious fumbling touches you necessarily doing the plug with your fingers. I always have a bad feeling about this, touching plug, because it can sooner or later lead to corrosion and contact problems. And from static discharges that can damage the electronics, not to mention. This cap is clearly an "anti-cap".
The positive aspect of the matter: The cap is only clipped on and can be removed by gently bending without something breaks (you can cancel it and draufklipsen later, if you like). Without this cap me the feel of the USB stick like a lot better. Theoretically, you can then fit the cap of an old, worn-sticks, or you look at tinkering something of Sugru, or simply plug the USB stick in a small zip lock baggie. Or you can be from the grandmother for Christmas a USB stick knit stocking (tongue twister!) Make. Since there are many possibilities.
Conclusion: The actual function as a USB flash memory properly. But for this unspeakable cap I would deduct half a star. Because Amazon does not allow half a star and I consider the issue important enough that I like for it not award 5 stars (which would mean "perfect"), I round off to 4 stars.
